I often have a fun concept in my head when I sit down to make a card. More often than not, though, the entire design shifts and turns in the creative process – it doesn’t surprise me to have a completely different project at the end of a crafting session. When elements don’t make it onto a card, I keep them in a little stack on the corner of my desk to use in the future. Today’s the future. Here’s my card for this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge:
And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:
- Crafting Forever. How perfect is this Crafting Forever sentiment and pair of scissors for the gorgeous patterns in the Needlepoint Nook Designer Series Paper? I’ve been wanting to pair them together since the Occasions Catalog was released, but it has taken me this long. Here’s a look at the Crafting Forever stamp set that was first released in 2017 (every stamper needs this stamp set): Back in 2017, I had the honor of showcasing this stamp set (when it was still brand new) at Stampin’ Up!’s OnStage event in Savannah, Georgia. If you’d like to see the projects I shared with this set, CLICK HERE.
- Building the Sentiment. The fun sentiment from Crafting Forever is what brings this whole card together. Built on a stitched frame and accented with a pair of scissors, this element pulls from all the other parts of the card. Here’s a closer look:I stamped the sentiment with Poppy Parade ink and framed it with a stitched element from the Needlepoint Elements Framelits Dies (it’s in the bottom, left corner below):Just to be clear, that element creates the stitching but doesn’t cut the shape out. Lucky for us, the shape is a perfect match with the Pretty Label Punch. I ran it into my Pretty Label Punch and punched it out. So easy, so fun!
- Needlepoint Quilt Top. I love the gorgeous prints on the Needlepoint Nook Designer Series Paper – it’s gorgeous on it’s own. To add a little more excitement, though, I ran this panel of Designer Series Paper through the Big Shot with my Quilt Top Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Gives a lovely texture to the paper:Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Needlepoint Nook Designer Series Paper:And here’s a look at the Quilt Top Textured Impressions Embossing Folder that added even more texture to this panel:
Stamp Sets: Crafting Forever Papers: Needlepoint Nook Designer Series Paper, Poppy Parade, Crushed Curry, Thick Whisper White Inks: Poppy Parade, Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, Stampin’ Blends (Basic Black, Smoky Slate) Accessories: Needlepoint Elements Framelits Dies, Pretty Label Punch, Quilt Top Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Metallic Pearls, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to the CAS(E) This Sketch site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Great card ! Very creative with the different items ! I love those scissors and have just completed some cards using them (kinda got the idea from the SU Success magazine !!) The Quilt Top EF is the finishing touch . Love love this stamp set !
Thanks, Sonny! I’ve had years of fun with this stamp set – glad you like this design with it. ♥
All the elements add up to cute, cute, cute, and love the bright color combo!
Thanks, Dawn! ♥ I added the additional layer of Crushed Curry toward the end of the card design. Was happy with how it looked against Poppy Parade. Thanks!
Lovely, bright card. Love the irony of fussy cutting the scissors.
The irony was not lost on me, either. 🙂 Thanks, Dianne! ♥
Love the DSP with the scissors and sweet sentiment. They make a very pretty card. Your fussy cutting of the scissors is great. Enjoy your day!
Thanks so much, Hilda! So glad you like the card – it was a fun one to make. ♥
Just a beautiful card!
Thanks, Windy! ♥
Brilliant to combine the scissors with the Needlepoint suite. Love the layering of the quilt texture on the DSP.
Thanks, Mary! The quilt texture was a last-minute-just-before-gluing addition. Glad you like it!
Love how you added pieces from your ” little stack” of elements to create this fun and happy looking card. Nice Job Brian.
Always little bits sitting around. 🙂 Thanks, Kadie! ♥
Such a fun design! I love your design for this challenge. Embossing the DSP with the Quilt Top Is the bomb!
Thanks, Susan! That was a last-minute decision to add a little “wow” to the project. Glad you like it! ♥
What a fun card today Brian. Combining your talent for snipping and putting together parts from multiple stamp sets I’d say you got yourself a five star card here. I’ll take 25 of them thank you – one for each of my quilting friends. I just love it. LOL
Thanks, Grace! I knew you – my quilting friend – would enjoy this one. I’ll get to work on your order as soon as I can. ♥
Love this card! What a perfect mash up of elements. I really have to case this one. 🙂
Thank you so much, Debbie! Glad you like it – you’ll have fun with it. 🙂
oh my Brian. you just continue to amaze me. everything about this card is gorgeous from the color combo to the dsp embossing. another thing I would have never thought of!!! bravo on those scissors. I am not a fussy cutter. I’m in awe…
Thanks so much, Dara! ♥
I can’t believe that these darling blooms aren’t actually stitched, Brian! You fooled me – and it may be the quilted embossing that tricked my eye! Darling little scissors, too!
Gorgeous take on our Sketch!

Thanks so much, Michele! I instantly knew what stamps and papers I wanted to play with for this sketch. ♥
I love how you mixed the needlepoint DSP and the craft stamp set.
The cut out of the scissors make the card
Thank you so much, Margaret Ann! I had fun with this mix of products – glad you like what I made. ♥
Love the realistic look the Quilted Top EF gives to your gorgeous card Brian, the fussy cut scissors are just the perfect finishing touch.
Beautifully done, my friend.
XO
Thanks, Maria! That was a last-minute add. Just needed “one more thing” to make it more of a wow. Glad you like it! ♥
