Couldn’t Have Picked a Better Friend

On Monday, I shared a park-themed card with the Pretty Park Framelits Dies for the Global Design Project theme challenge. If you missed it, you can see it here. There was another idea for this challenge rolling through my head for weeks before the challenge went live – I decided to go ahead and complete that project, and I’m thrilled with how these cards turned out. These small cards also share the “A Day in the Park” theme but are very different from the card I shared on Monday. Here are my cards:

Beautiful Bouquet, Bike Ride, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:GDP183

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Annual Catalog Goodies. Beautiful Bouquet is my go-to sets for great sentiments. While the gorgeous collection of flowers and leaves are the obvious highlight of this set and coordinating dies, there are 15 sentiments that can be used for lots of occasions. Here’s a look at the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set: Beautiful Boquet, Stampin' Up 143666While I didn’t use the dies on this project, this set coordinates with the Bouquet Bunch Framelits (you can see those dies here). Each of the cards features an image that pairs with the Gingham Gala background and the sentiment from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set? Here’s where I got the flowers and apples for my cards: Bike Ride, Stampin' Up, 143716And here’s a look at the coordinating Build a Bike Framelits Dies: Build a Bike Framelits Dies, Stampin' Up! 143729
  • Picked a Friend. You are bright (and fully awake after your first cup of coffee), so you’ve already noticed how this sentiment – “I couldn’t have picked a better friend” – pairs beautifully with both the flowers (which you pick) and the apples (which you pick). At the same time, both are perfect for the “A Day in the Park” theme at this week’s Global Design Project. Beautiful Bouquet, Bike Ride, Stampin' Up!, Brian King Beautiful Bouquet, Bike Ride, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingWhat do you think? I could have also gone with the “Thanks a bunch” sentiment, but I am excited by the versatility of the “picked” sentiment. I mixed the gingham envelope liners between the two cards – the liner is simply punched with a 2-1/4″ Circle punch.
  • Gingham Gala. The patterns and colors in the Gingham Gala 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper add to the in-the-park-theme of this card. I pulled the Daffodil Delight background into one card with the flowers, and I pulled the Lemon Lime Twist background into the other card with the apples. Such gorgeous, Spring-like colors in this pack of 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Papers. Here’s a look:Gingham Gala 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up! 148554

These little notes just couldn’t be any cuter, Brian.
    Thank you!

  3. These are adorable…love the picked sentiment too!

  4. In the park for sure! How sweet are these cards! Perfect artwork to match the sentiment. And, you’re right, the gingham DSP is the best choice for the picnic table cloth. ????

    • Thanks, Katrina! I just love this gingham paper – while I would have loved a red gingham, I am happy with how these bright gingham patterns worked. they still gave a nod to summer picnics. ♥

  5. Love, love those narrow note cards. The combination of the sentiment and the die cuts is sheer genius. I especially love the single red apple!

    • Thanks so much, Mary! I masked the single apple, stamped with the fill-in image in Lemon Lime Twist and then colored the apple with Real Red ink. On second thought, I could have just colored the apples – but I like a challenge. Glad you like them.

  6. You are so good at seeing elements/images in sets no one probably noticed or thought to make a center piece and then you go and pick a perfect sentiment, too! This is why I use genius so much when describing you!

    • That’s so nice, Windy! Thanks so much! I study my sets to find little nuggets in each one – it’s fun to bring a background player to the front every once in a while. So glad you like that. ♥

  7. Darling cards! How have I missed the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set? I’ll have to take care of that. Also love the Narrow Note Cards for a change of style. Nice!

  8. Love these sweet cards using the different images with the same sentiment. They will really make the recipients’ day. Enjoy your day!

  9. and you couldn’t have picked any better paper, colors, layout, sentiment… nothing!!! these are so beautiful – so happy. Perfecto, Brian!!! I just got my backordered gingham paper. i can’t wait to play. darn work is getting in the way….lol

  10. Well stop-me-in-my-tracks Brian…..These little note cards are ADORABLE. Love the spring colors you selected.

  11. I can’t think of anything to say that hasn’t already been said a half dozen times here. I’m crossing my fingers that SU will have the gingham paper in the new catalog. Everyone loves the cards I’ve made using it. I do have a question about the narrow note cards and envelopes (which I love seeing, especially today with your out-of-this-world beautiful cards). Can they be mailed or are they sized to simply be put on gifts or given in person? Obviously we all went a little nutso over your cards today. I wish I had one tenth of your talent. Thanks again for sharing Brian!

    • Thanks so much, Grace! The Narrow Note Cards are too small to be mailed – unless you slip them into another envelope or tuck them in a gift you are mailing. They are ADORABLE still. ♥
