Framed Falling Flowers for FabFriday

You know I’m a huge fan of my Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies, right? If you’ve been visiting me here over the past three months, then you’ve likely seen a project that features them. That’s because they are one of the greatest things in the world. I was thrilled when I saw that the sketch for FabFriday that kicks off today features a frame (or a pair of rectangles, depending on how you look at it). Out came my Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies. Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Falling Flowers. I absolutely love Falling Flowers – it’s a returning stamp set in Stampin’ Up!’s 2018 Annual Catalog with a beautiful collection of flowers that are fun to color and arrange. I decided to rest them along the corner of my frame to perfectly frame the gorgeous sentiment. Here’s a look at the Falling Flowers stamp set:Falling Flowers, Stampin' Up! 139556These flowers coordinate with the May Flowers Framelits Dies (you can click here to see those in my online store. The sentiment is from Dandelion Wishes – love the font, love the sentiment. Here’s a look at Dandelion Wishes:Dandelion Wishes, Stampin' Up!, 146744
  • Frame Builder. Since the moment the Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies were introduced, I’ve been layering and framing everything I make. Since the dies cut rectangles, leaving stitching on the inside and outside of the shape, they are perfect for all kinds of projects. Here’s a look at these dies:Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies, Stampin' Up!, 148551You can build thin or thick frames with these dies, depending on the size you choose. Just pick two sizes, and run them through the Big Shot at the same time. No matter what sizes you choose, you will end up with a frame that has stitching on the outside and inside of the frame. Lovely!
  • Spring Colors. I used a handful of bright and cheery colors on this card – they pop so well against this thick, black frame. The get well wishes need an uplifting arrangement of colors. I love a blue flower (it’s also my Mom’s favorite), so I colored the largest flower with Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends. The other colors include Call Me Clover, Calypso Coral and Pineapple Punch. Here’s a look at this arrangement on my card:Falling Flowers, Dandelion Wishes, Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian King So…that was my original design – I felt there was too much white space once I lined up the arrangement with the sentiment, so I added one more little flower to the collection:Falling Flowers, Dandelion Wishes, Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingSee the difference? It’s minor but makes a big difference. To coordinate with the large flower and to give a Spring day sky to the card, I used this panel of Balmy Blue paper from the Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper. Love it! 2. Am I really loving this card today Brian! The colors are what make it for me. I know you love your frames and I agree the black frame does ground your images. Your second version is more appealing maybe due to the odd number of images. Thanks for the inspiration!

  3. and yet another stunner!!! the placement & the pop of color against the black frame is perfect. I love the coordination of color. everything plays so well together – nothing seems out of place. 10. I waited and waited and waited before I purchased the rectangle framelits dies. Once I finally bought them I kicked myself for waiting so long. I just love the fact that I can make layers upon layers without having to do any math. Today’s card from you is very elegant and the colors are about the closest thing we have to spring around here. Thanks for giving me a beautiful and colorful start to my day. Love this one Brian!

  13. So many favorites on this card! I love how you have layered and arranged the flowers. That can be daunting. I find I futz around with arranging flowers a long time before I’m happy with it. The DSP is lovely layered on that Balmy Blue. <3
