Introducing Stampin’ Up!’s 2019-2021 In Colors

This is a great time to be a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator! Not only were many of us able to see the 2019 Annual Catalog this weekend at Stampin’ Up!’s OnStage events, but we were also able to order some great, new products from the incredible, new book – including the 2019-2021 In Colors. All demonstrators will be able to order select products from the new catalog in May before the catalog goes live to customer in June.  What fun!

I always love to see the new colors and start to play around with them – and I’m excited to share them with you today. Here are Stampin’ Up!’s 2019-2021 In Colors:

It might also help to show how they work with other colors you know and love. Here are my thoughts on each of these amazing, new colors and some comparisons to colors already in our color families:

ROCOCO ROSE

Rococo Rose overflows with the elegance and sophistication you’d expect from a mature mauve. It’s a dusty pink with rich, soothing tones that’s sure to be a great addition to the pinks and reds we already have. As you can see below, Rococo Rose is richer than Blushing Bride (and has some of the same dusty qualities) but isn’t quite as bright as Flirty Flamingo:

PRETTY PEACOCK

At first sight, you are going to say that Pretty Peacock is “just” the reincarnation of Tranquil Tide (I did the same), but it’s not exactly the same and has SO much to offer. We are going to LOVE working with this rich, aqua color. Here’s how Pretty Peacock compares with Bermuda Bay and Tranquil Tide:

2019-2021 In Color Comparison, Pretty PeacockIt’s even darker than Island Indigo, making it a regal color that’s sure to be the adult in the room. Because Pretty Peacock makes such a rich statement, I thought it would be fun to combine it with the softness of Grapefruit Grove and brightness of Coastal Cabana:

PURPLE POSY

If you love purples (and I know you do), then you are certainly going to want to stock up on some Purple Posy inks and papers. It’s such a soft, sweet shade of purple. We thought Highland Heather was THAT color when it was released in 2018, but Purple Posy is even softer. Here’s how Purple Posy looks next to Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape:

2019-2021 In Color Comparison, Purple PosyWith a tone that light, you know it’s going to pair wonderfully with bright or neutral tones. So…why not see how it looks with both? SEASIDE SPRAY

Maybe I’m still hesitant to initially believe the uniqueness of new In Colors, but they are all so special. When I first saw Seaside Spray, I was convinced that it was a knockoff of Balmy Blue, but it’s not really that close at all. It has more blue than Pool Party and more purple than Balmy Blue. It’s a lovely, soft tone that will be perfect for watercolored skies or cards for a baby boy.

2019-2021 In Color Comparison, Seaside SprayTogether with Calypso Coral and Smoky Slate, Seaside Spray really shines – I love this beautiful mix of tones and shades that I pulled from an old pack of Designer Series Papers that used Pool Party:Stampin' Up! TERRACOTTA TILE

This year’s Pantone Color of the Year is Living Coral, a vibrant and gorgeous rusty orange. Although Terracotta Tile was likely selected by Stampin’ Up! sometime last year, it’s right in that ballpark for today’s trends. Here’s a look at Terracotta Tile and how it compares with Calypso Coral and Cajun Craze:

2019-2021 In Color Comparison, Terracotta TileIsn’t that a stunning color? It’s so soft with such gorgeous, neutral tones. Playing with the softness of the color, I combined Terracotta Tile with Mint Macaron and So Saffron for an over-the-top combination of sweet colors:

What do you think of the new colors?  I hope you love them as much as I do.  I can’t wait to roll my sleeves up and start creating with these new, amazing colors!

  1. Hi Brian,
Thank you so much for showing the new colours in comparison to the existing colours. It’s so much easier to see how they all blend together as initially I thought that Seaside Spray and Purple Posy were such weak colours but they blend together perfectly in their respective colour families.
You’re a ⭐️ for taking the time to do this
    Thanks
    ????

    • I’m thrilled with these new colors, too, Mary! While I’m excited to play with them, I will be sharing lots about the retiring colors, too! I have to get in as much time with them as I can while they are still here. ♥

  10. Thank you so much for sharing these! I am super duper excited about the new colors! They have almost a Southwest feel to them. Add a splash of green and I’m dreaming of summer and cacti!

  11. Thanks for posting this very helpful information. I was so curious of how these new colors tied into the color line. I was hoping that they were a lighter shade of existing colors. Your chart made it clear that was true. Thanks again for your help.

  12. I love that you did these colour combos, and I really like the new in colours, they play well together and with others! I hope you Pin these!

  13. Thanks Brian for both the comparison colors & possible color combos. It really does give a nice comparison.

  14. Thanks for the new colors Brian. As Diane commented, I too thought that Seaside Spray and Purple Post were weak colors until you showed them next to stronger colors. I do find that the new colors are grayer then I usually like but sometimes my cards need to be toned down a bit and theses will work very nicely.

    • Thanks so much, Donata! I know that these colors (even the ones we don’t immediately love) will grow on us over the coming years. I’m pretty excited about all of these new shades. ♥

  15. Thank you for sharing all your color combos. I love them and share them with my friends. May be you should set them up in pdf format and sell them in sets with updates. Love all the info contained in your emails and the different card layouts. Where do you find all the time to share? Thanks again!!!

    • Thanks, Kathy! I love to share these colors, and I’m glad you are sharing them with your friends. I will have to give the .pdfs a thought – thanks! I have 10 minutes left in my lunch hour, so I find time where I can. 🙂

  16. Thanks Brian. Comparisons are much appreciated. I never decide on the new colours until I see them in real life. I just don’t always have confidence in my screen.

    • They are all wonderful, Tania! I like to have them in my hands, too, and won’t rely on the catalog or computer screen to determine how much I like/love them. Even colors we don’t love will grow on us over the next two years. ♥

  17. Thanks so much Brian for the comparisons. This is so helpful!

  18. You are the master of color combinations! I will bookmark this page and refer to it over and over! Thank you!

  19. I really appreciate the color comparisons. It will help a lot going forward. Many thanks for your efforts!

  20. Brian, you are the KING of color! I really did not like the new in-colors at all..was really struggling with how as a demo, I was going to showcase them. Your color combos completely changed my outlook…..thank you so much!

    • Tammy – thanks so much! The colors will almost always feel “lukewarm” at first sight. Once we start working with them and finding combinations that work, we fall in love with them. Every time. 🙂

  21. Oh my gosh, Brian! Your color combos with the new in colors make me love them even more! Can’t wait to get them all!!
