Pick a Pattern with Retiring In Colors

Back in 2017, when we were first introduced to the 2017-2019 In Colors, I made a card that has featured three of those new colors behind strips of the Pick a Pattern Washi Tape. I loved how that card turned out – and it has stuck with me since. Every so often I think, “I need to remake that card.” Well – as those colors AND the black-and-white washi tape are set to retire, now’s as good a time as any. Here’s my 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ card:

Confetti Celebration, Pick a Pattern Washi Tape, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingI used the same technique that put the Washi Tape on the 1″ strips of cardstock but played with the placement of the strips a little bit. I kept the circle sentiment and neutral backdrop.

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Pick a Pattern. Do you remember the Pick a Pattern Suite from Stampin’ Up!’s 2017 Annual Catalog? While the Designer Series Paper, stamp set and most coordinating accessories retired at the end of the catalog, the black-and-white, multi-sized Pick a Pattern Washi Tape carried forward into the 2018 Annual Catalog. Such fun! The washi tape, though, goes away at the end of this catalog (or when supplies run out). • A Layer of Washi. This card was such fun to construct. I simply taped down this 1″ piece of washi tape over 1″ strips of 2017-2019 In Colors. 1. Ohh!! aren’t you so clever!!! For a moment before I read your post, I thought these stripes were DSP, I think it’s a great way to customize Washi Tape to coordinate with whatever colors you are using on your projects.
And also, it’s a great way to use your scraps, which I know all of us have a ton of.
Thank you for sharing this awesome and clever idea, Brian.
