As soon as I saw the color combination for the FabFriday challenge that kicks off today, I knew I’d be working with new products from my Verdant Garden suite of products. While I thought I would be showcasing the GORGEOUS Verdant Lane Designer Series Paper (this paper is FILLED with amazing greens), really wanted to build my own background with patterns from the Verdant Garden stamp set and a sweet combination of green inks. Here’s my card:
And here’s the banner for the color challenge that inspired my card:Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Verdant Garden & Verdant Lane. The background of this card is stamped with two pattern-builder stamps in Verdant Garden – such a great set! Here’s a look at Verdant Garden: I stamped the pattern in the bottom, left with Pear Pizzazz and the pattern in the bottom, right with Soft Sea Foam. Over and over, I stamped the patterns until they filled the page. The delicateness of Soft Sea Foam made Pear Pizzazz (also a soft green) appear rich and bold. While I didn’t showcase the Verdant Lane Designer Series Paper (that coordinates with this set) on this project, I want you to see how gorgeous it is. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the pages of the Verdant Lane Designer Series Paper:
- Tips for Stamping with Verdant Garden. When I first started playing around with the patterns in the Verdant Garden stamp set, I thought I’d be able to position the two stamps on my Stamparatus and build a pattern by rotating a square piece of cardstock on the base of the stamp positioning tool. After many tries, I realized the patterns aren’t designed to work that way. Instead, build a pattern that keeps the stamps in the same orientation over the whole pattern (the image on the stamp case shows how they should be positioned to achieve this). Whether you stamp above, below or beside one you just stamped, keep the stamps in the same up-and-down position every time. Here are some Stampin’ Up! samples of projects that showcase Verdant Garden stamp set and Verdant Lane Designer Series Paper:
- Good Morning Magnolia. Do you just love the sweet magnolia bud I’ve featured on my card? Both the bud and the “Hello” sentiment are from a new bundle in Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Annual Catalog called Good Morning Magnolia. What an amazing collection! Here’s a look at this must-have bundle: My card intentionally mixes Very Vanilla and Whisper White. Even though I used Very Vanilla on the base of green pattern, I stamped my flower on Thick Whisper White to make sure it was crisp and clean. The color challenge calls for Flirty Flamingo – and I had a plan from the start to include it. It’s there – although subtle and light, I lightly painted Flirty Flamingo on the flower with a Blender Pen.
Bundles: Good Morning Magnolia Stamp Sets: Verdant Garden, Good Morning Magnolia Papers: Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sea Foam, Very Vanilla, Thick Whisper White Inks: Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sea Foam, Flirty Flamingo, Basic Black Accessories: Magnolia Memory Dies, Tailored Tag punch, Blender Pen, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to the FabFriday challenge blog to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!
Brian

Your card today is a very handsome with an amazing background pattern. That you created it was fantastic. A well done interpretation!
Thanks so much, Sharon! I really love these colors and was looking forward to a bright pink flower on the front. The softness of the background, though, called for a soft flower. Glad you like it!
What a beautiful card. I love this DSP and know I’all be using lots of it.
Have a good weekend.
Thanks so much, Dianne! Hope your weekend is wonderful, too! ♥
Wow, that is impressive Brian. I thought it was DSP! The colors mix beautifully for such a serene and beautiful card. Have a great week-end!
Thanks so much, Dawn! It was fun to make and I enjoyed the color inspiration. Hope your weekend is wonderful! ♥
I was surprised when I read you created your own DSP. Great take on the color challenge cleverly getting a dab of Flirty Flamingo in. Pretty card. Enjoy your day!
Thanks so much, Hilda! I love DSP – but I also love creating my own background. My favorite, though, is altering the DSP to make it my own. 🙂
Crisp perfection. I love how the “hello” fits in the Tailored Tag and the magnolia is the perfect accent!
Thanks, Mary! I liked how the Tailored Tag punch mimicked the jagged edges of the background pattern. Glad you like it! Thanks!
This card is BEAUTIFUL Brian. LOVE this DSP!!!
Thanks, Kadie! ♥
Beautiful layers and the sentiment looks perfect cut with the tag punch!
Thanks so much, Windy! I wanted the tag to have the same “jagged edges” as the patterned backdrop. Thanks!
I would have passed on this stamp set until I saw your card today. I absolutely love the background you made and monochromatic cards are always my favorite but I have no idea why. Such a gorgeous combination of greens today. Love it Brian. Fabulous job.
Thanks so much, Grace! I thought I could pop it around on the Stamparatus and create a pattern, but I was wrong. After several “attempts” I finally realized how I needed to stamp these images. Then it was easy. Glad you like it!
Nice card, Brian! I love the Verdant Garden suite. Your magnolia bud is lovely and I caught the touch of Flirty Flamingo, too! Thanks for sharing.
🙂 So glad you caught it, Tracy! I love Flirty Flamingo, but I didn’t want to take away from this green combo. Thanks!

Like this background stamp A LOT! You’re right; the combo of soft sea foam and pear pizazz really makes the pear pizazz almost regal in tones. Beautiful card.
Hope you have a great holiday weekend.
Thanks so much, Linda! I’ve always been a huge fan of Pear Pizzazz (for its softness). Glad you like how regal it looks with Soft Sea Foam, too. Appreciate your comments and hope your weekend is wonderful, too.
What a stunning card! How you mixed the Green is beautiful and adding just a wash of flamingo to the flower is perfect. Just beautiful!
