Back on Your Feet

There are so many great reasons to send a card – to share celebrations (Christmas, weddings, birthdays), to offer gratitude (thank you, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day) and to show concern (sympathy, get well soon, thinking about you). Today’s card is a simple get well soon card that features a new stamp set from Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Annual Catalog. Here’s my card:

  • Back on Your Feet. There are SO MANY great, new things in Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Annual Catalog – it can feel overwhelming to take it all in. One of the single stamp sets that stands out as a favorite to me is Back on Your Feet, a cute get well soon set that features bold-lined images of three animals who are working hard to make sure you feel better soon. The giraffe, the sloth and the turtle are all experiencing “oops” moments, and the sentiments are great for a get well card. Here’s a look at Back on Your Feet: Back on Your Feet, Stampin' Up! 149385If you’ve been stamping for a while, the Classic Label Punch is likely a staple in your stamping arsenal. If you don’t have it, take another look at how versatile it is. It can be used to crop out so many sentiments or to create fun patterns on a card. While I often crop off the pointed ends of the Classic Label Punch, I decided to only crop off one end of each tab on this card. • Coloring the Turtle. There are so many ways to color this sweet turtle. If you Google “cartoon turtle,” you’ll find a lot of all-green or all-brown turtles. You’ll also find green turtles with brown shells. I wanted my brown turtle to have a green shell, so I made him that way. To my eye, it was the right balance of green and brown – even if you can’t find this particular turtle in nature. Here’s a closer look at this guy: Back on Your Feet, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingI used a Color Lifter to pull some of the brown away from the soft bottom of his shell. I just love that the Color Lifter allows us to create more shades with the colors we love.
  • Natural Color Combination. While I didn’t set out to build a landscape with the colors on this card, it seems I did it. Rocks, grass and sky are all represented in this color combination of Crumb Cake, Call Me Clover and Pool Party. If you like this combination as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this: Stampin' Up! I hope you’ll pop over to the Freshly Made Sketches site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

  8. The offset rectangle really gave this card the punch to bring it up several notches. I love the look on this little turtle’s face and your layering is exceptionally great (as always). 9. Thought I would take a minute to pop in and tell you that I love this card. The layers just add even more dimension. But the coloring of the turtle is what blew my mind! I didn’t think I wanted this set but it looks just too much fun not to have. A great take on the sketch and a great color combination.
