Woven Threads Thank You

It’s not often that I dabble in vintage images and patterns, but I couldn’t help myself but to play around with the Woven Threads Designer Series Paper. It’s gorgeous! And what better way to showcase the rustic patterns in this paper than to pair it with beautiful vases? Here’s my card for this week’s Global Design Project sketch challenge:

Woven Heirlooms, Woven Threads Designer Series Paper, Vases Builder Punch, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingAnd here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card (this challenge goes live at 7am EST):GDP194Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Woven Heirlooms & Woven Threads. The “thank you” on this card is from the Woven Heirlooms stamp set – the understated sentiment is simple and shouldn’t be the reason you get this stamp set – the gorgeous, scripted words are the reason. Here’s a look at the Woven Heirlooms stamp set:Woven Heirlooms, Stampin' Up!, 149306The stamp set is designed to coordinate with the Woven Threads Designer Series Paper that’s also featured on this card. The Woven Threads Designer Series Paper includes all five of the new, 2019-2021 In Colors. Here’s a look at the gorgeous patterns and colors in this pack of papers:Woven Threads Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up! 149497Both of these products are part of the Woven Threads Suite – you can click on the photo below to see all of the suite’s products in my online store: Woven Threads Suite, 101001, Stampin' Up! 2019 Annual Catalog
  • Rustic Vases and a Lacy Border. The rustic vases and lacy border on my card aren’t part of the Woven Threads Suite, but they really fit in well, don’t you think? The vases were cropped from a single pattern of paper in the Woven Threads Designer Series Paper. Here’s a closer look at the vases and the simple sentiment (stamped on Seaside Spray and cropped with the Classic Label punch):Woven Heirlooms, Woven Threads Designer Series Paper, Vases Builder Punch, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingI’ve also managed to include the Arts & Crafts Dies (part of the It Starts with Art Bundle). Did you notice that incredible element on my card? Here’s a look at the It Starts with Art Bundle: It Starts with Art Bundle, Stampin' Up!, 151090And here’s another look at the front of my card – the Seaside Spray lacy border is cropped with this set of dies. It has a stitched, flat edge and a stitched, scalloped edge. Love it! Here’s a look:Woven Heirlooms, Woven Threads Designer Series Paper, Vases Builder Punch, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Color Inspiration. The Woven Threads Designer Series inspired the colors I used on this card. The pattern I used on the vases includes a mix of Sahara Sand, Rococo Rose, Terracotta Tile and Seaside Spray. I chose two other patterns with similar color schemes to build the rest of the card. 1. Yes! I love the look of those vases. Perfect for showing off the DSP!

  2. Love the lacey border, it adds just the right vintage touch!

  3. I had not even considered the Woven Threads DSP until now.
Now it’s on my for sure list.
Are all your cards standard A2 size unless otherwise noted?

    • I’m so happy to hear it, Donna! The pages aren’t terribly appealing when displayed together, but they are gorgeous on their own. You’ll love the paper. All of my cards are standard A2 – I mention a different size if I share a different size. Thanks!

  4. The Woven threads DSP is one of my favorites and your card supports that opinion. Beautiful. And, I had not noticed the border from the It Starts with Art bundle. Score! Thanks!

  5. Love your take on the challenge, Brian. Using that DSP for Mary’s vases is perfect with the other elements you used. The color combination makes a beautiful card anyone would love receiving. Have a wonderful day!

  6. You nailed this card with a twist of vintage and classic style my friend.

  7. I really love this look. The big vase on my left looks so realistic. I can just imagine running my fingers over the ridges on the pottery. That lacy border is just the added touch of whimsy adding more texture to this lovely rustic look. Love it!!!

  8. A very simple sweet card today. I love it, and it is a nice interpretation of this week’s challenge.

  9. When I first saw your card I immediately noticed the DSP. I LOVE it!! I wasn’t sure at first what it was from, but now that I know I can’t wait for mine to arrive. (It’s coming in my order to arrive soon. LOL)
    Great card Brian.

    • You’re going to love it, Connie! I wasn’t first sold on this paper, but the more I worked with it, the more I fell in love. ♥ Thanks, Connie!

  10. So full of texture..those vases are so cool!

  11. Great interpretation of the sketch challenge. Love your choice of the DSP–you always make what might otherwise be considered the “B” side as important as the “A”. Yup, absolutely out of the park…

  12. Gorgeous vases, Brian! I love what you did with this beautiful dsp!

  13. I must admit, when I saw this paper I wasn’t sold. But the more I looked at it, the more it said “bring me home”. So I did! It should arrive tomorrow. Your card is awesome! A perfect match to Mary’s beautiful vases and not much stamping required! Beautiful! TFS

    • Thanks so much, Bobbi! Always wonderful to hear from you – I didn’t really know how much I loved this paper until I started creating with it. ♥
