Pressed Petals for CTS327

My friend, Donna Mikasa, is hosting this week’s sketch challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch. When I saw these panels, I knew I wanted to feature panels of Designer Series Paper – it’s what I do. My card showcases some beautiful products from the Pressed Petals Suite – including the Designer Series Paper and Specialty Washi Tape. Here’s my card:

CTS327Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Pretty Panels with Pressed Petals. As you can see from my card, I didn’t stray too far from Donna’s sketch – I let the panels of Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper do the work here. They created the color scheme and texture for my card. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper:Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up! 2019 Annual Catalog, 149500What makes this paper “Specialty”? Several things: (1) it’s a lightweight paper with photographic images of real pressed petals on one side and vintage designs on the other and (2) there are 24 sheets in each pack – that means you get FOUR each of the six, double-sided designs in the pack of paper. Yay!
  • That Flower. How much do you love that flower on this card?! It’s not a punch, and it’s not a die. The flower is created with the Pressed Petals Specialty Washi Tape. How cool is that?! There are two rolls of washi tape in the pack – and one of them includes these gorgeous Merry Merlot petals that (peel-and-stick flower petals so you can create your own flowers). It’s about the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. Here’s a look at the Pressed Petals Specialty Washi Tape:Pressed Petals Specialty Washi Tape, Stampin' Up! 149585Once the flower is assembled, the Perennial Essence Floral Centers are a perfect accent. Here’s a photo from the catalog (had you seen it?) that shows how these peel-and-stick petals can be used to build a gorgeous flower: Pressed Petals Specialty Washi Tape, Stampin' Up! 149585QUICK TIP: Build the flower on your silicone mat. When you are done, tap your Embossing Buddy on the back of the flower – the powder will help to remove some of the tackiness of the washi tape.
  • Sophisticated Color Combination. The colors on this card are pulled from the Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper. I love the use of Merry Merlot in this paper and this washi tape flower – so sophisticated. Paired with Soft Suede (also in the paper) and the Mossy Meadow leaves, this combination of Stampin' Up! 1. Love your take on the sketch. The washi petals make a very pretty card, which you certainly did. Have a great day!

  2. Oh, Brian, you answered my question on what to do about the sticky on the back of the petal flower. Now I can play with mine. …

    • It’s so much fun, Lynn! You can also toss the flower onto the floor or over some linty clothes – the powder is a cleaner way, though. 🙂

  3. Ohhhhh. love this card. The flower is beautiful and looks pretty easy! Thanks for the tips.

  4. I love the layout of the challenge and your version. It is your normal style with an added twist! Perfect!!

  5. FABULOUS card Brian. LOVE that washi tape!!!

  6. The background actually looks textured! Pretty paper and I love the pop of color from the flower!

  7. Awesome washi flower and love the background..sweet card!

  8. You may have just sold me on this set, which I was trying to resist! Beautiful card, Brian!

  9. Great cards Brian. You made my day ; )

  10. You are the KING of DSP use~you always manage to see the opportunities available in each collection! Love this card. And I am rewriting my next order to include this washi tape. Thanks for the handling tips, too.

  11. Your creation for today is breathtaking Brian! I too had wondered how to be able to create a flower with those petals and then have it remain dimensional with all the sticky on the back. I have a new added name for you – Brian the tipster! LOL Now don’t start thinking about being a bookie! Have yourself a day as beautiful as the card you created today.

  12. That washi is like a little flower making machine. Such a soft and sophisticated card!

  13. Oh my friend , I love love love that wasi tape , I MUST GET ONE ,
    Hugs Frenchie,
I forgot to say your card is beautiful ♥️?

  14. Thx, Brian. The Pressed Petals washi tape is the coolest item in the new catalog!

  15. Brian, I love this card! The WT is amazing and is on my next order. Do you have any idea how many petals are on the roll? I have plans to use it in 2 of my classes and unsure how many rolls I need to purchase. Now come up with something to use the extra roll on as I can see a lot of it left over! Also, thanks for the DSP swatch books. I love them and look forward to them each catalog. Have a great week-end! 🙂

    • I read somewhere (but can’t verify) that each roll has 100 petals. Hope that helps. These flowers are gorgeous, and this washi is such a great product. You and your customers will love it! Glad you like the swatch books, Debbie! I love making them.

So pretty and looks like something you could put together pretty quickly, yet for just about any reason. Love the color combo, too!
