Confession time. When I first flipped through Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Annual Catalog, I sort of turned my nose up at It Starts with Art and thought, “There’s no way I’d use that bundle.” As the story goes, I picked up the bundle and now can’t seem to put it down. I reach for it over-and-over, finding the images, sentiments and dies very useful and fun to work with. I used the reinkers (and coordinating dies) from the set to make this card that also showcases Stampin’ Up!’s 2019-2021 In Colors:
And here’s the banner for the FabFriday color challenge that inspired my card:Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- It Starts with Art. There are so many elements to the It Starts with Art bundle that I didn’t expect to all in love with. The bundle felt a little limiting at first (I thought I’d only be able to send cards made with this bundle to my crafting friends), but I was wrong. While the reinkers and ribbons and markers might be decidedly themed for Stampin’ Up! friends, so many of these elements are versatile and fun – the binder clip, the buttons, the trims in the Arts & Crafts Dies. Here’s a closer look at the elements in the It Starts with Art Bundle:
- New 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Papers. With the release of the new catalog, Stampin’ Up! re-designed the 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Papers that are available in the color families (and In Color collections). There’s a small, gingham (YAY!) pattern; a stitched, diamond pattern; a modern mosaic pattern and a pattern of beautiful, small script. Here’s a look at the patterns in the 2019-2021 In Color 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper: I used the scripted pattern on my card today. The words on the page say “Inspire Create Share Ink Stamp Repeat” – how fun is that?! It’s beautiful from afar and inspiring when viewed up close.
- Inking Elements. To create each of the reinkers on my card, I stamped each image with StazOn Tuxedo Black on Thick Whisper White and again on each color of cardstock. I cropped the bottles with the Arts & Crafts Dies. I colored the ink inside each bottle with a Blender Pen and the coordinating color. I colored part of the label with a Basic Black Stampin’ Blend and then snipped the remainder of the label out of the cardstock and glued it to the reinker bottle. INKING OF YOU – to create this fun sentiment, I simply inked up “Thinking of you this season” from Winter Woods, applied tape over the “Th” and “this season” before stamping it onto a piece of Thick Whisper White. Fun, huh? I cropped the sentiment with a Classic Label punch and snipped off the ends. Here’s a look at the beautiful carryover from the 2018 Holiday Catalog:

I was so glad we made a sample with this stamp set at On Stage in April. I was sure I would never buy the Bundle or even the stamp set! Yeah. I love it. And your card is a perfect example of just have delightful the creations can be using this bundle. (Oh and “inking of you”. Too clever.)
🙂 Thanks, Dianne! I left OnStage, thinking, “There’s one sample with this set – all I need.” Then I started paying attention to the dies in the bundle. So glad you like what I made with it.

Well – you are just the frosting on the cake Brian! I absolutely, positively, make-no-mistake-about-it love this card. I too bypassed it in the catalog and now have to rethink it. The double stamping and gluing of the actual colored card-stock is genius. You have an amazingly creative mind and I’m so glad you share it with us. Thank you Mr. Wonderful!
Thanks so much, Grace! I’m thrilled that you like it so much – this bundle has proven far more versatile than I imagined it could be. Thanks! ♥

Yay! I’m so glad you like it, LeAnne! These reinkers sat on my desk for a while before I figured out how to showcase them. Thanks!
This set grabbed my attention for ATC swap cards ! The images are a good size for those and now that you have struck the match of creativity using the reinkers I am pumped !!
Wonder if they could have Project Run Way for cards because yours would get a standing ovation !!! Clever You !!
Awww…thanks so much, Sonny! This set is really fun – especially for card swaps. So glad you like what I’ve made and that it would receive a standing ovation on the runway. 🙂
OMG!! Aren’t you SO CLEVER!!! Love it when we can use several stamp sets to help us out with the perfect sentiment.

How did I miss this gem?! Never really paid much mind to those ink bottles, they’re amazing! I thought maybe you had to resort to a computer generated sentiment because it’s so clever, but no. Of course you found a stamp to use! Popped over here from today’s post. So glad I did!
