CASEing Connie Collins

It’s time for another CASE the Designer Challenge with the Global Design Project. There are so many places to find inspiration for the projects we make – I love the opportunity to create a project that’s inspired by the art of my fellow team members on GDP. Always a joy! This week we are CASEing one of our founding team members, Connie Collins. What fun! Here’s my card:

Bloom & Grow Bundle, Heirloom Frames Dies and 3D Embossing Folder, Country Home, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingAnd here’s the banner for Connie’s Card that inspired my card:GDP196When we CASE (Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit), we find inspiration in a project – theme, color combinations, layout, products used – and create our own project by making changes to make it our own.  When CASEing, it’s important to give credit to the original designer – it doesn’t take away from your project at all.

It’s easy to see where Connie’s project inspired me. Like Connie, I added beautiful flowers to the base of a frame with a gorgeous sentiment. I even incorporated the blues of Connie’s beautiful card – what great inspiration!

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Bloom & Grow Bundle. The Bloom & Grow Bundle offers some gorgeous floral arrangements and some pretty wonderful sentiments. This collection of flowers gave me exactly what I needed to decorate the beautiful frame on my card.Bloom & Grow Bundle, Stampin' Up! 151069This is such a versatile set – the colors you give to the flowers dictate the feeling of the card you make. Here’s another card I made with one of the flowers in this bundle (you can click on the project picture below to see the original post of this card): Bloom & Grow Bundle, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingBy using bright, bold colors, I created an entirely different feeling from the flowers I used on today’s project. I love that versatility!
  • Heirloom Frames. My timing on this project might not be the best because the Heirloom Frames & 3D Embossing Folders are currently on backorder with a “to be determined” expected date. Regardless, you can still order them and receive them when they arrive – they are worth the wait. This amazing mix of dies and embossing folders is part of the Woven Threads Suite in Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Annual Catalog. Here’s a look: Heirloom Frames Dies and 3D Embossing Folders, Stampin' Up!, 152325TIP: The dies cut the frames, and the embossing folders add the beautiful texture. I tried cutting first, and I tried embossing first. By far, the best results came from cutting the frames and then embossing them.
  • Soft colors. The soft, sweet colors of these flowers are even softer against this Soft Suede frame. The mix of Stampin’ Blends (Seaside Spray, So Saffron, Petal Pink and Mint Macaron) made me very happy – such a sweet combination of colors.
