Seaside Notions for GDP198

A fun sketch challenge kicks off today at the Global Design Project – the sketch puts a sentiment front-and-center on the card. I’m so in love with the sentiments in Seaside Notions that I designed my images around the sentiment to make a thoughtful thinking of you card. Here’s my card:

GDP198Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Seaside Notions. I grew up by the ocean, so I didn’t even have to think twice about adding Seaside Notions to my shopping cart when Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Annual Catalog was first released. The seahorse and shells are gorgeous. It wasn’t until after the set arrived, though, that I realized how INCREDIBLE the sentiments in this set are! • Masking to Layer Images. The thick, sketchy lines on the artwork make the images easy to stamp and cut out, but I wanted my images to sit in the background on this card. They are almost a texture here: Seaside Notions, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingHere’s how I masked the images (with minimal snipping) to build them on this card:Masking in Three Steps, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Warm Neutrals. I wanted a warm mix of neutral tones to accompany this “thinking of you” sentiment. I also like to incorporate yellow into cards that are meant to uplift, encourage or show sympathy. So Saffon is such a soft yellow that blends well with the browns used to build this card.
