Sneak Peek: Cup of Cheer Dies for GDP200

It’s time for another CASE the Designer Challenge with the Global Design Project. There are so many places to find inspiration for the projects we make – I love the opportunity to create a project that’s inspired by the art of my fellow team members on GDP. Always a joy! This week we are CASEing one of our talented team members, Janneke de Jong, from the Netherlands. What fun!

My card for this fun challenge features three sneak peeks from Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Holiday Catalog – I received each of these products on my Incentive Trip to Greece earlier this month. Demonstrators are able to purchase these items starting Wednesday, and customers can purchase them starting on September 4. Yay! Here’s my card:

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

GDP200When we CASE (Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit), we find inspiration in a project – theme, color combinations, layout, products used – and create our own project by making changes to make it our own.  When CASEing, it’s important to give credit to the original designer – it doesn’t take away from your project at all.

It might not be immediately easy to see I pulled inspiration from Janneke’s project – but it’s there. Like Janneke, I allowed the panel of white (I used vanilla) to serve as a simple backdrop for a trio of sweet images. I flipped the layout of her sketch, reduced the size of the focal panel to allow the Designer Series Paper to shine and added my sweet trio of images. My card doesn’t immediately look like Janneke’s but the inspiration is there!

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Sneak Peeks. My card features three great, new products from Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Holiday Catalog: the Cup of Cheer Dies, Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper and Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set. While the dies work beautifully with a new stamp set (and are sold separately or as part of a bundle), I was able to easily pull together a trio of images without the stamp set. Here’s a closer look: Cup of Cheer Dies, Itty Bitty Christmas, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Christmas cardAnd here’s a look at the dies in this Cup of Cheers Dies:Cup of Cheer Dies, Stampin' Up!Here’s a look at the new Itty Bitty Christmas, jam-packed with perfectly-sized sentiments for the Holidays:Itty Bitty Christmas, Stampin' Up!And here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper:Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!Each page has the same design on each side – Real Red on one side and Garden Green on the other. There are two sheets of each design for a total of twelve 12″ x 12″ pages.
  • Color Combination. Back in the day (like more than a year ago), Real Red and Old Olive were part of the Brights color family, and Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green were part of the Regals color family. When choosing reds and greens for a Christmas card, we could choose bright-and-cheery (Brights) or sophisticated-and-classic (Regals). Now that all four of these colors are part of the Regals color family, the Regals is a likely choice for traditional Christmas colors. • More Inspiration. While I can’t share the inside pages of the catalog with you just yet, Stampin’ Up! has released some images from the catalog that I can share with you. These images give some great inspiration for using the Cup of Christmas stamp set and Cup of Cheer Dies:Cup of Christmas Bundle, Stampin' Up!, 2019 Holiday Catalog Cup of Christmas Bundle, Stampin' Up!, 2019 Holiday CatalogHow cool are those samples? While I don’t have this stamp set yet, I know it’s going to be on your wish list – it’s the first “reversible” stamp in Stampin’ Up!’s offering – there are two mug patterns on the stamp – one on each side of the stamp. How fun!
