Open if You Dare with Spooktacular Bash

I can’t help myself. I can never turn down an opportunity to play with gorgeous Designer Series Paper, explore a new set of beautiful dies AND build a pun – all at the same time. When I sat down to play with the new products from the Monster Bash Suite in Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Holiday Catalog, I was bursting at the seams to make this sweet-and-simple notecard-sized card (3-1/2″ x 10″, scored at 5″):

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Monster Bash. The Monster Bash Suite in Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Holiday Catalog gives you EVERYTHING you need for a super-fun Halloween. To be clear, the suite doesn’t bring trick-or-treaters to your house (I haven’t had a single trick-or-treater for eight years), but you can have lots of fun pretending they’ll be stopping by. Here’s a look at the Spooktacular Bash Bundle:Spooktacular Bash Bundle, Stampin' Up! 153040The set includes the Spooktacular Bash stamp set (lots of super-fun, Halloween-themed images and sentiments) and the Ornate Frames Dies. While these dies coordinate with the images in the set (and some of the images in the coordinating Monster Bash Designer Series Paper), they are GORGEOUS for any occasion.
  • Monster Bash Designer Series Paper. When I shared all of the Designer Series Papers from Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Holiday Catalog last week (you can see them here), I’m sure the adorable pages of Monster Bash Designer Series Paper were a standout, right? Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in this pack of papers:Monster Bash Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up! 2019 Holiday Catalog, 150447When I debuted these last week, I also shared a color combination I love from the papers. The combination I chose is represented in my card today, too. Terracotta Tile, Soft Suede and Crushed Curry are all represented on this page of Monster Bash Designer Series Paper:Stampin' Up! • So Punny. I zoomed in on the focal sentiment of this card to show you how gorgeous this die is – and the other three coordinating dies that come together to build a beautiful focal point for this card. Here’s a closer look:Spooktacular Bash Bundle, Monster Bash Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Halloween cardEarlier I mentioned the pun in this card. Did you take a moment to look for it? While “open if you dare” is often associated with a coffin at Halloween, there’s no coffin here. Instead there’s a fun tie-in of this sentiment between two things that also need to be opened (if you dare ) – this card AND the background of books.

  2. LOVE every single thing about the Monster Bash Suite…….And your darling card.

  3. Fun card! I am in love with the Ornate Frame dies..I ordered just those and they are going to be so fun to play with. Thanks for the inspiration!

    • Thanks, Windy! These frames are so gorgeous and so versatile. I kinda love that they are part of a whimsical set and can imagine them being used for so many other occasions.

  4. Totally fun! Love this paper too!

  5. Cute cute card ! I plan on getting those cute Dracula Coffins for treats and I think your sentiment is perfect for those . Also, I am greatly relieved to find out that your MUG SHOT photos were not part of the MONSTER BASH DSP . Whew !!! Giggle !!

    • 🙂 Thanks, Sonny! Your comments always make me smile – the “mug shot photos”. Ha! The coffins are adorable – there are so many fun ways to dress them up. Such fun! ♥

  6. Great card (as always) Brian. Halloween cards are my favorite to make and my great, great nieces and nephews LOVE receiving them. We don’t get any trick-or-treaters either but it’s still fun to decorate the outside of the house and send cards for the holiday. I can’t wait to see the new holiday catalog. I’m sure it’s filled with fabulous things.

    • I agree – Halloween cards are great fun. You’re going to love this suite, Grace. Can’t wait to hear what you think about this catalog because I know you are going to love it. ♥

  7. That’s such a different and fun color combination for Halloween. Great card Brian!
