Making Spirits Bright for CTS335

The fun sketch this week at CAS(E) This Sketch got my mind racing. I love when there are LOTS of options to recreate a sketch in my own view.  The wavy band across this sketch gave me the perfect opportunity to ink up Making Christmas Bright, a stamp set from last year’s Holiday Catalog that carried over into this year’s Annual Catalog. Yay! Here’s my card:

Making Christmas Bright, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingThat’s right! These products aren’t from the upcoming Holiday Catalog – they are in the current Annual Catalog, so you can get them now. Yippee! And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

CTS335Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Making Christmas Bright. I love the bright, fun images and sentiments in the Making Christmas Bright stamp set – stars and Christmas lights. how fun! On this card, I used the string of lights in the top, right corner of the picture below and the sentiment below it. Here’s a look at the Making Christmas Bright stamp set:  Making Christmas Bright, Stampin' Up! 148046While Making Christmas Bright was bundled with the Christmas Bulb Builder Punch, I didn’t use the punch on today’s project. I still want you to see how cute it is and consider purchasing it when you buy this stamp set:Christmas Bulb Builder Punch, Stampin' Up! 148013
  • All Strung Out. Who doesn’t love to unwrap a string of Christmas lights?! I knew the strings of lights would be a perfect element to represent the wave from the CTS sketch. I stamped the center string first and then lined up the top and bottom strings (changing direction of the bulbs). The lights aren’t designed to line up perfectly, so it takes a little strategy to get there. Here’s a closer look:  Making Christmas Bright, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingI stamped the strands with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. Once the ink fully dried, I colored the bulbs with a mix of Pineapple Punch, Pool Party, Granny Apple Green and Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Blends.
  • Unexpected Christmas Colors. While I used the Light Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Blend for the pink bulbs, they looked enough light Melon Mambo to frame my central panel. I just love this unexpected combination of colors for Christmas. Such fun! If you like this combination of Pool Party, Pineapple Punch and Melon Mambo (whether or not for Christmas), please save this:Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration - Pool Party, Pineapple Punch, Melon Mambo

  9. Well, the lights are really great, BUT the BEST part that made me giggle out loud was the little silhouette characters doin’ their thing in the explanation of what a “share” is!!!! How hysterical!!!!! Loved it.
And just about everything else you concoct as well, but the little characters going nuts was worth reading the fine print.

    • 🙂 Thanks, Sherry! I’ve been using that graphic for 5 years. I keep thinking I should update it but then decide it’s easiest to keep it the way it is. So glad you like it! Thanks for your kind comments! ♥

  10. What a great card Brian! Loving the strings of lights (but I’m not sure I know anyone at all who loves unravelling them in real life!) and that wonderful neon yellow sentiment strip.

  11. Oh my word!! That little string of lights is PERFECT for this sketch!! Such a great, simple card!!

    • Thank you so much, Nora! I really had fun with it. The set has been around for while, so I was worried it wouldn’t feel fresh. The colors changed that for me. 🙂 Glad you like it!
