Wildly Happy for GDP204

It’s time for another CASE the Designer Challenge with the Global Design Project. There are so many places to find inspiration for the projects we make – I love the opportunity to create a project that’s inspired by the art of my fellow team members on GDP. Always a joy! This week we are CASEing one of our team members, Kerstin Kreis. What fun!

Here’s my 4-1/4″ x 4/-1/4″ card:

Wildly Happy, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, baby card

And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

GDP204When we CASE (Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit), we find inspiration in a project – theme, color combinations, layout, products used – and create our own project by making changes to make it our own.  When CASEing, it’s important to give credit to the original designer – it doesn’t take away from your project at all.Tips,

Tricks and Reminders

  • Color Inspiration. While many are inspired by the layout of Kerstin’s card (it’s usually how I approach these challenges), I found inspiration for my card in the colors Kerstin used. Because Petal Pink, Mossy Meadow and Basic Black are predominant in the oh-so-popular Magnolia Lane Designer Series Paper, I’ve used this combination multiple times since the new catalog came out. If you like this combination of Petal Pink, Mossy Meadow and Basic Black, please save this for future reference:Stampin' Up! • Sweet Baby. These colors were a perfect combination for this sweet baby card, don’t you think? We instinctively adore motherly love, and this Wildly Happy stamp set is filled with beautiful images that are easy to use and fun to color (even though you don’t have to color them). Here’s a look at Wildly Happy: Wildly Happy, Stampin' Up! 149408This card will be going to my sister-in-law and brother-in-law who are due at the end of this month. This will be their first baby (a little girl). What a wonderful way to welcome her into this world!
  • Coloring the Panda Bears. As I was sitting down to color the panda bears, I started to panic – which areas would be black, and which areas would be stay white? Logic set in as I realized certain areas of the animals were shaded a bit more for us, so I followed the lead of the artist who sketched the pandas. Wildly Happy, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, baby cardI stamped the panda bears along this 2-1/2″ strip of Thick Whisper White cardstock with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I used Dark Smoky Slate and Light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends to color the arms, legs, eyes and ears. So sweet!

I hope you’ll pop over to the Global Design Project site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.

World Card Making Day/Brian’s Fall Stamp-Along

If you are a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator who is attending OnStage in Atlanta, Georgia, I’d love to invite you to join me for a fun day of fun stamping inspiration, games, swaps and giveaways.

I haven’t yet opened registration for this year’s event (to be held on November 15 at the Atlanta Marriott Gateway), but that doesn’t mean you don’t want to get on the list to find out more when I know more. Stampin’ Up! moved this year’s event to a different location with few options for hosting my event. As such, I am only able to accommodate a smaller crowd that before. I am still working through several ideas for how I can include more people without taking away from the experience for those there.

Placing an order today? Of course you are! If you are placing an order for $150 or more, I want you to enjoy all of the Host Rewards you have earned.  If your order is less than $150, I’d love for you please add this Host Code – XCXRY327 when prompted. Thank you!
