Feels Like Frost for FMS400

We’ve seen several photo-real Designer Series Papers over the year, but no other paper is as gorgeous as the mix of Winter scenes in Feels Like Frost 6″ x 6″ Specialty Designer Series Paper, new in Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Holiday Catalog. I LOOOOVE the beautiful pages in this set of papers and the unique colors that perfectly capture the cold Winter air. Here’s my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge:

FMS 400Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Feels Like Frost. You might not initially consider Highland Heather, Balmy Blue and Seaside Spray as colors that are perfect for Winter, but the gorgeous pages of Feels Like Frost 6″ x 6″ Specialty Designer Series Paper build a solid argument for why these colors belong with a frosty scene. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Feels Like Frost 6″ x 6″ Specialty Designer Series Paper: Feels Like Frost 6" x 6" Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up! 2019 Holiday Catalog, 150444Want to see more? • Itty Bitty Christmas. You can’t have great Christmas cards without great sentiments, right? When it comes to great sentiments, I either like them really big (so the sentiment can do the work) or really small (so the words are an accent to the beautiful card). I added “Peace & Happiness” to the front of this card (it’s such a peaceful scene, right?) from Itty Bitty Christmas. Here’s a look at Itty Bitty Christmas (which is bundled with the Christmas Layers Dies in the new catalog):Itty Bitty Christmas Bundle, Stampin' Up! 153019I love every one of these sentiments and will likely find a way to use each one in the coming months. I love a challenge!
  • Winter Colors. The colors for my card were drawn from this over-the-top gorgeous page from the Feels Like Frost 6″ x 6″ Specialty Designer Series Paper: Feels Like Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!There’s such a chill with these blues that’s magnified by the droplets of white snow that are stuck to the window. Can’t you just imagine looking out at that majesty from the warmth of a mountain cabin? If you like this mix of Smoky Slate, Pretty Peacock and Night of Navy as much as I do, please save this:Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration - Smoky Slate, Pretty Peacock, Night of Navy

  3. Such a pretty and elegant looking card.

  4. This paper is gorgeous and I love how you cut it with the stitched die..even more beautiful detail!

    • Thanks, Windy! I don’t know how I would begin to just trim into this paper. The die gave me exactly what I needed to find the right place to cut it. 🙂 Hope you are safe in this pending storm. ♥

  5. That’s in the catalog?!? Totally missed that. A gorgeous scene and card, Brian! Thanks for joining us for Freshly Made Sketches 400th sketch this week!

    • Yes! It’s in the Holiday Catalog, which is live on Wednesday. ♥ The FMS sketch and this paper made it so easy for me to make a card I loved. Thanks for the inspiration! ♥

  6. I love the clean, tailored design of the card. The design and sentiment are the perfect frame for that lovely paper! Beautiful!

  7. Love your beautiful card, Brian. This stunning paper makes it easy to create a wonderful card. Enjoy your day!

    • Thank you, Hilda! I couldn’t agree more – it’s so easy to make a beautiful card with this gorgeous paper. Glad you like what I made. Hope your day is wonderful! ♥

  8. Oh Brian, I could just kiss you! This is the perfect easy-peasy yet stunning card that I can CASE at my next group! (They can only handle so much what with the wine and food… lol) Thanks for sharing!

    • I have a cold right now, Annie, so a kiss probably isn’t the best option. 🙂 I’m so glad you like the card, and I hope your club members enjoy making it. ♥

  9. That DSP is stunning! It doesn’t need much to go with it. It really makes the card. Perfect!

  10. So much gorgeousness!!! All the heart eyes!!!!

  11. As someone who lives in a place where that “cold winter air” is commonplace I can tell you that your card is spot-on. It looks so pretty! But I’m afraid to tell you that the reality is not so pretty. During the winter I’m wearing lot lots of layers, hats, mittens, and boots, not to mention SHOVELING SNOW. Blah! Seriously your card is gorgeous and I’m so glad you joined us for our special 400th challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

    • I’ve never experience snowfall for more than a couple of days at a time. I know it’s never quite as stortybook as it seems, but I’ve got to hold on to those dreams, Jen. 🙂 Thanks so much! ♥

  12. I would have never thought that I could use Smoke Slate in place of the Silver paper. Beauitful card

  13. Wow, that patterned paper makes me cold just looking at it – so realistic 🙂 . Gorgeous card! Thanks so much for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches.

  14. Wow that paper is gorgeous and so is your card! You showcases it beautifully! I do love winter…..good thing considering where I live!

  15. Hi Brian. Love this card. Could you provide the dimensions of each piece?

    • Hi Colleen, thanks! I’m sorry – I don’t have the exact dimensions of any of the layers. I cut right into the middle of this piece of Designer Series Paper with a Stitched Rectangles Die and the built the other pieces around it. The white borders are 1/8″ wider and longer than the layers beneath (if that helps at all). It was a fun card to make.
