Today is Labor Day in the United States. Labor Day was established in the late 1800’s to honor the hard work and achievements of America’s labor workers (who typically put in long hours at physically grueling, low-paying jobs). As Labor Day falls at the end of Summer in the United States, we celebrate the holiday with picnics and parades. If you are celebrating today, I hope it’s a wonderful day for you!
Theodore Roosevelt (American President long before Labor Day was established) got it right when he said, “Believe you can and you’re halfway there.” I’ve been itching to showcase this sentiment from the Believe You Can Host Set in Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Annual Catalog, and this week’s Global Design Project color challenge gave me the perfect colors to use it. Here’s my card:
- Believe You Can. With purchases greater than $150, customers earn Stampin’ Rewards that can be used to purchase ANY current items in the current catalogs. One of the perks of earning Stampin’ Rewards is that you can use them to purchase specially-priced Host Sets. If you haven’t checked out these sets, please do – they are pretty spectacular! To see all of these Host Sets, CLICK HERE. Believe You Can is a photopolymer stamp set from Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Annual Catalog that’s redeemable with $13 of Host Rewards – here’s a look: Believe You Can is designed to coordinate with the Stitched Nested Labels Dies that can be purchased alone or as part of the Free as A Bird Bundle. Since I know you will love both, here’s a look:
- Paper-Piecing. I love a little paper-piecing every once in a while. I always love to repeat a pattern from the base of the card on a top layer of the card – such a fun look. Since the panel behind my cropped sentiment is a checkered piece of Rococo Rose 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of that paper, too, and then snipped out the flag to layer on top. Here’s a closer look:Fun tip for paper-piecing – I added my glue to the Thick Whisper White that had been cropped with the Stitched Nested Labels Dies and then glued down the little flag I had snipped. That’s much easier than adding glue to the flag and then trying to flip it over and handle the little, glue-filled piece.
- Stampin’ Blends. When I realized that all three of the colors in this week’s Global Design Project challenge were offered in Stampin’ Blends, I knew I’d be coloring for this card. The soft, pretty colors were perfect for this sun (So Saffron) and grass (Mint Macaron). I decided to color the words and flag pink to get them all in. Lots of my customers are starting to load up on Stampin’ Blends. I’m so happy they are seeing just how wonderful these pens are. I’m so happy with the selections we have available to us and love using my Blends.
