Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Holiday Catalog was released yesterday – so many great products in the pages of this book. I combined simple elements from two sure-to-be-popular bundles to make a clean-and-simple Christmas card for this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge. Here’s my card:
And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:
- Small Elements of Big Bundles. The banner was stamped and cropped from one new bundle in Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Holiday Catalog, while the gorgeous greenery is from another. While neither of these is the most recognizable element in either bundle, they come together to make a gorgeous Christmas card. Here’s a look at the Toile Christmas Bundle:And here’s a look at the Frosted Foliage Bundle (which is sure to be a beautiful bundle we can use throughout the year):
- Open Space. I struggled with the open space on this card. Once I added the elements of the sketch, I was left with a large red space just above the sentiment. I loved it. I wanted to cover it up with something. I loved it just as it is. It felt a little bare. Nothing needed to change. After this back-and-forth in my already-cluttered mind, I decided to just leave it alone and enjoy the bold red background.
- Christmas Colors. The Real Red panel is surrounded by a soft Pear Pizzazz and framed with a Shaded Spruce base. The two greens are repeated in the leaves from the Frosted Frames Dies. I had thoughts of adding a touch of color to the banner, but I opted to leave it alone (that seems to have been a theme when building this card.” If you like this combination of Real Red, Pear Pizzazz and Shaded Spruce, please save this:
Bundles: Toile Christmas Stamp Sets: Toile Christmas Papers: Real Red, Pear Pizzazz, Shaded Spruce, Thick Whisper White Inks: Tuxedo Black Memento Accessories: Frosted Frames Dies, Christmas Cardinal Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to the CAS(E) This Sketch site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!

GREAT color combo. You’re the matte master, Brian!
Thank you so much, Dawn! I cut a lot of paper before I find the exact layers I want. Glad you like it.
What a GREAT color combination. Makes for the PERFECT holiday card.
Thanks, Kadie! The Pear Pizzazz adds something new to the standard combination. Glad you like it.
I love your card! That pop of white against all those beautiful, bold colors is unexpected and absolutely perfect!
Thanks, Susan! ♥
Great take on the sketch, Brian. Love the color combo and all the layers. Have a great day!
Thank you so much, Hilda! Hope your day is wonderful, too! ♥
Awesome card and perfect for the sketch! I also like a light green thrown in with dark green!
Thank you, Windy! The two shades of green changed everything for me as I made this card. Glad you like it!
Sweet card! I just got the frosted bundle yesterday!
It’s wonderful! Thanks, Linda!
Love this one Brian! All the holiday catalog sets are amazing. I especially love that SU has so many dies to match their stamps and that those dies are amazingly intricate. I’m one for traditional colors on Christmas cards so the red/green combo is perfect in my book.
Thanks so much, Grace! I love these dies and agree with the great variety of products in this catalog. I love to mix up my Christmas colors and was happy to add a second green here – made it feel different without being too different. 🙂
Oh I LOVE your matting and the simplicity of the design of this card. FABULOUS card.
Thanks, Nora! It’s a great sketch. I was worried my card might be too simple, so I’m glad to hear you like it. ♥
