I want to tell you a little story today about an incredibly talented woman who I’ve known for a very long time. For purposes of this story, let’s just call her “Mom.” When Mom makes the journey from Charleston, South Carolina to Atlanta, Georgia, she and I often spend lots of time stamping in the Fungeon (that’s the whimsical name I’ve given my stamping basement – it’s a bit of a dungeon, but it’s always fun).
Isn’t she beautiful?! While Hurricane Dorian made his way up the east coast earlier this month, Mom paid us a visit (I can always expect Mom to visit at least once during the annual hurricane season when she makes her way inland to avoid an aggressive storm). What fun! Because of some big projects at work, I wasn’t able to take off the whole week to hang out with her, so she was by herself for a while during the days.
While she was hanging out alone at the house, she wanted to make something, but she doesn’t always know where to start. That’s where Stampin’ Up! kits come in handy – they are great entertainment for stamping enthusiasts like Mom, and she could finish a project without much fuss. I gave Mom a choice of kits to play with, and she (very wisely) chose the Joy of Giving Tag Kit from Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Holiday Catalog. I want to share a little bit about the kit, along with some of Mom’s feedback about it.
Joy of Giving Tag All-Inclusive Kit
Take your gifts from basic to brilliant with stepped-up handmade tags you create using the Joy of Giving Tag Kit. Each tag folds in half so you can stamp “to” and “from” on the inside. This is a great craft kit to have on hand for the gift-giving season. Here’s a look at the Joy of Giving Tag Kit:
The kit includes the following:
- Supplies to make 30 tags (10 each of 3 designs)
- Joy of Giving Photopolymer Stamp Set (17 stamps)
- Shaded Spruce twine
- Poppy Parade Stampin’ Spot
- Designer Box (Poppy Parade)
- Clear block
Here’s a look at the photopolymer stamp set that’s included in the kit:
These words and images will certainly come in handy even when all the tags are finished. I love all of the elements in this tag kit, but I really love this stamp set (that can be used over and over after the kit is complete)!
These are really great tags! Here’s a video Stampin’ Up! created to show you all of the items included in the kit:
Here’s a look at the finished projects:
And don’t forget – they all come with a Poppy Parade designer box that can be used throughout the year. They are all pretty wonderful, right? I love that they are all folded over so that personal messages can be added inside – but the shiny, pretty tag front is still on display.
Mom’s Feedback
I asked Mom for some comments about her experience putting together the kit. In her quiet, unassuming way, her response was, “It was really fun. I like it.” She wasn’t extremely thorough in her response, but I knew how much she loved making them as she held her decorative box full of tags. I was able to pull a little more information out of her with my high-pressure interrogation. Each of the tags incorporates a little gold flourish sticker that goes above and/or below most of the sentiments. Mom struggled with the stickers (they are super-thin and very sticky), but she still added them to most of the tags. Even the tags without the flourish, though, were quite stunning.
Mom asked if she could keep the box and tags – of course! She asked if she could keep the stamp set – we had to have a little talk about that one.
Thanks for stopping by today!
Brian

Way to go Mary xox Give your Mumma another stamp set and kit for next year Brian, hehe xox I must get myself one!
It’s a great kit, Adele. I know there will be more kits coming, but this one is a keeper. 🙂
Love your mom, Brian❤️
I do, too, Suzie! 🙂 ♥
To answer your first question, yes, your mother is beautiful. I always enjoy seeing her creations. Great job, Mary. Pretty tags that are really cards. Have a wonderful day, Brian.
Isn’t that a great picture? Snapped it on a dinner cruise in Charleston last year. So happy to share Mom with y’all.
Brian, giving a kit to your mom is the perfect entertainment while you’re at work. She’s not the only one that struggles getting started, casing you and other creative Demonstrators is a blessing and joy to me. Thank you many times over.
Thank you so much, Katrina! ♥ That means so much to me.
Awesome kit. I always love seeing your mom but I bet not as much as you! Mary, I hope to see you in November and enjoy your tags! Hugs!
We have fun together. Even when I’m at work, though, she can keep entertained. Thanks, Windy! ♥
Oh, Brian: I love all your posts, but the ones that feature your mom are my favorites! She is, indeed, a lovely woman and I get a great sense of joy when you describe your interactions with her.
P.S. I hope she got to keep the stamp set. 🙂
Thanks, Yvonne! She didn’t get to take the stamp set with her (I have ideas), but it will be dropped in the mail to her soon. ♥
More Mary, please! Beautiful project but your mom always steals the show!
I’m happy to share the spotlight with her every once in a while. It makes me happy to know that she “has fans.” 🙂
Your Mom is BEAUTIFUL and I always SMILE BIG when I see her pretty face appear on your blog. THANKS for sharing this lovely lady with us.
Awww…thanks, Kadie! We always have a fun time with her and miss her when she heads back home. Glad to share her with y’all. ♥
Brian, your mom seems so sweet. Thanks for sharing her with us, along with the great kit. Glad you had a nice visit!
Happy to share her with y’all, Dawn! ♥ I was able to take some time off toward the end of the week to hang out. The kit is pretty wonderful.
Glad to see Mom will get the stamp set, though not much of a surprise since she likely reads your blog and comments! Tags are terrific!
🙂 Lots of support for Mom getting that stamp set, Dianne! I’d better use it fast so I can get it out to her. ♥
You had me laughing out loud with this post Brian. What a beautiful photo of your Mom. I bet she’s a real southern lady. It’s so nice that she gets to visit you whenever she can and that you let her “loose” in the fungeon. Now you have convinced me that I really need to make these beautiful tags instead of just putting the peel and stick ones I’ve been using for years. They really are beautiful and wouldn’t the multipurpose tool be helpful in getting those stickers off the backing?
Hey Grace! I started flipping through my phone to find a picture of Mom – and didn’t realize I had this one (such a good picture from a dinner cruise in Charleston last year). These tags are a class act – you’ll love them.
Lol, yes, your Momma has fans. On every coast!
I love that – and it’s gone to her head just a little bit. 🙂
Such a sweet blog today Brian. It’s always fun to hear about your mother’s adventures when she visits!
Thanks, Sharon! We have fun. Got in a couple of movies and a little bit of shopping, too. Thanks!
Love posts with your Mom. She is a delight – must be where you get your charm Brian!
Whatever charm and craftiness I have came from her. Happy to share her with the world. 🙂
Brian, every time you have your mom featured on your posts, I get a big smile on my face, well…..I smile with your posts too but I get a bigger smile when I see her beautiful face.
So glad she had fun putting these cute tags together, you should give her the stamp set and get her another kit just so she can have more fun when she goes back home.
She is simply awesome, I also think that’s where you got your charming disposition.
Give her a big hug.
Maria.
Thank you so much, Maria! I’m so happy to know that my posts with Mom bring so much joy. I’m certainly grateful to have her visit with me and stamp with me. ♥
Your mom is the sweetest!
I wholeheartedly agree. ♥
Well, I just happened on this ??? I had wondered about your mom and leaving Charleston during Dorian ?? We were also on alert here in Charlotte . Loved your post about Mary`s stamping (as always)
Pretty MAMA ! Love that picture !
Isn’t she gorgeous?! She was at my brother’s house during Dorian and came here after (I was just a stop in her hurricane vacation). Happy to share her.
