An Elegant Halloween Card with Spooktacular Bash

There are two types of Halloween projects I love – adorable projects that show the childlike side of the holiday and projects that are elegant, classic beauties (the more it doesn’t look like a Halloween project, the better). That’s the look I was going for when I pulled together today’s card. Here’s a look at my elegant Halloween card:

  • Spooky Treats. The Spooktacular Bash Bundle meets both of my Halloween requirements – there are fun, cartoon-like images perfect for the kiddos, and the coordinating Ornate Frames Dies are an elegant touch that will be perfect throughout the rest of the year. I used the sentiment from the Spooktacular Bash and framed it with a coordinating die. I also added another black label from the dies (at the base of the cropped sentiment). Here’s a look at the Spooktacular Bash Bundle: Spooktacular Bash Bundle, Stampin' Up! 153040To create the base of my collage of spooky elements, I cropped the tabs of the lid of one the Coffin Treat Boxes and cropped it with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. I love the texture it gave the coffin shape. Here’s a look at the adorable Coffin Treat Boxes:Coffin Treat Boxes, Stampin' Up! 145451So many elements on this card (stamp set, dies, coffin boxes, enamel dots) are from the Monster Bash Suite – if you haven’t check out all of the elements in this suite, please do yourself a favor and look at them now. • Beautiful Layering & Texture. The Subtle Embossing Folder gives the coffin a beautiful texture, but there are lots of elements on this card that give it great texture and built great layers. The background panel of Smoky Slate is stamped with Smoky Slate and the Crackle Paint background stamp set.  Here’s a closer look at the front of my card:  Spooktacular Bash Bundle, Coffin Treat Box, Botanical Tags Dies, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingThe delicate panel of birds and branches are perhaps an unexpected treat on this card. The Botanical Tags Dies are perfect for building elegant elements on a card. Here’s a look at these dies that coordinate with the Botanical Bliss stamp set (but can be used all by themselves):Botanical Tags Dies, Stampin' Up! 151790The online samples and the samples in the catalog showcase these dies with soft, elegant beauty – they really are gorgeous dies. Here’s a look at samples with this stamp set and dies: Botanical Bliss, Bontanical Tags Dies, Stampin' Up!I’ve always seen this die with birds and branches as a little spooky – it translated well on this project, don’t you think?
  • Sophisticated Combination. I love a monochromatic combination of similar tones. The combination of Smoky Slate, Basic Gray and Basic Black is one of my favorites because they can be used for a wedding as easily as they can be used for Halloween. If you like this mix of grays and black, please save this for future reference:Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration - Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, Basic Black
