Merry Moose for GDP210

I’ve used two of the sentiments from the Merry Moose stamp set on cards I have shared with you here, but today is the first time I’ve inked up and punched out my merry moose. He was a perfect star for this week’s Global Design Project sketch challenge. Rather than surrounding him with jolly, seasonal colors, I gave my moose a very brown environment that’s filled with peaceful, warm colors. Here’s my card:

• Merry Moose and Come to Gather. The Merry Moose Bundle is quite adorable. While the image of the moose, raccoon and trees (these trees are GORGEOUS) are not cartoonish, you can dress them up with scarves, hats and ornaments. I chose to go the “not cartoonish” route on my card, but I’ve seen meany that adorably incorporate the other elements of stamp set. Here’s a closer look at the Merry Moose Bundle:An how beautiful is this panel of wood texture that provides a backdrop for the moose? I pulled this panel from the Com to Gather Designer Series Papers – lots of great patterns in that pack of papers. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Come to Gather Designer Series Paper:
• Focal Point. While the wood texture of the Come to Gather Designer Series Paper give a lovely background for the moose, it’s the panel with the moose that is the focal point on this card. I stamped the moose with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and colored him with Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends. I colored the moose’s antlers with the Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend and then lightened them with the Color Lifter. Here’s a closer look:Two more things to point out about the focal point of this card:
  • The trees behind the moose are cropped with the In the Woods Dies – there are two of these leafless trees in the bundle. They are a perfect accent behind my merry moose. Since they were snipped at the edge of the Early Espresso cardstock, I was able to layer them at different heights.
  • The scalloped border at the base of the Thick Whisper White border behind the moose is created with one of the scalloped dies in the Budding Blooms Dies, part of the Bloom & Grow Bundle in the 2019 Annual Catalog.
• Warm Browns. I love a monochromatic card, and this mix of browns makes me happy. The warm browns are accented with thin layers of white that really pops on the card. If you like this warm, beautiful mix of Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Early Espresso, please save this for future reference:
