Holly Jolly Christmas for GDP213

Pink, green and gray. This week’s color challenge (more specifically Old Olive, Lovely Lipstick and Smoky Slate) were destined for a modern Christmas card, don’t you think? Well, that’s exactly what I did. With a little help from some incredible products from Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Holiday Catalog, I pulled this card together and was merry all the way:

Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration - Old Olive, Lovely Lipstick, Smoky SlateTips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Holly Jolly & the Most Wonderful Time. The titles of the Christmas Bundles I used for today’s sweet-and-simple card will certainly implant Christmas songs in your head. You’re welcome for the earworm. 🙂 The stockings were stamped from the Holly Jolly Christmas stamp set and cropped with the coordinating Jolly Seasons Dies. Here’s a look at the Holly Jolly Christmas Bundle:Holly Jolly Christmas Bundle, Stampin' Up! 153009The gorgeous, Old Olive panel of stars is part of the Most Wonderful Time Product Medley shown below (click on this picture for a look at all of the amazing components of this wonderful medley:  Most Wonderful Time of the Year Product Medley, Stampin' Up! 150705The “Be Merry” sentiment is pulled from the Tidings All Around stamp set. I love that bundle (it’s the one with the wreath).
  • A Catalog CASE. When we CASE (Copy and Share Everything or Copy and Selectively Edit), we find inspiration in a project – theme, color combinations, layout, products used – and create our own project by making changes to make it our own. When CASEing, it’s important to give credit to the original designer – it doesn’t take away from your project at all. The layout of my focal point (the stockings and sentiment) were inspired from this card on page 24 of Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Holiday Catalog:Holly Jolly Christmas, Stampin' Up!Here’s a closer look at my take on the elements on this card from the catalog: Holly Jolly Christmas, Tidings All Around, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, Christmas cardWhile I didn’t copy it exactly, the duo of stockings are adorable on the circle with a sentiment poking out from one side. There’s so much inspiration to be found in the pages of our catalogs!
  • Coloring with Blends. When all three of the colors in this color challenge were in the current family of Stampin’ Blends, how could I resist a coloring project? The stockings are colored with both Light and Dark Lovely Lipstick and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends. The tops of each are colored with Light Smoky Slate and then with a Color Lifter to lighten it and add a little texture. Here’s a look at all of the current Stampin’ Blends:Current Stampin' Blends, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

  5. What a fun card, Brian. Great take on the color challenge. Enjoy your day!

  6. Love the stockings Brian and the background DSP couldn’t be more perfect. I would love to see the die cut of the sleigh and reindeer on a card. A size comparison of the die to some of the house sets I have would be fun to allow me to make a decision on this set. (Quite the sneaky way to ask you to make a card using it eh?)! LOL

    • Hey Grace! It’s on my list already, but…there’s a standard card on page 24 of the Holiday Catalog that showcases it. ♥ Might need to use the tops of the houses, but it could be great fun!
