Wrapped in Plaid for CTS347

I play with paper, stamps and ink nearly every day – I have so many opportunities to create with the products I want to play with. Somehow, though, online challenges grant me the permission I need to put some products front-and-center on my craft desk. This week’s CAS(E) This Sketch layout sent me straight to my pack of Wrapped in Plaid 6″ x 6″ Specialty Designer Series Paper. Yay! Here’s my card for this week’s challenge:

CTS347Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Christmas Staples. There are so many staples that you just have to have for the Christmas holidays (this year and future years). The Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set is a must have – I adore nearly all 18 of these sentiments (I’m not sure I’d ever use “have a sugar-sprinkled season!” but it makes for a fun challenge). These sentiments are perfect for a variety of Christmas projects from fun to sophisticated. Here is a look at the Itty Bitty Christmas Bundle (which includes the Itty Bitty Christmas cling stamp set and Christmas Layers Dies):Itty Bitty Christmas Bundle, Stampin' Up! 153019The Wrapped in Plaid 6″ x 6″ Specialty Designer Series Paper is filled with GORGEOUS patterns and colors for Christmas – so many great ways to showcase these beautiful papers. Both of the patterns on my card are from this pack of papers. You’ll also add many of these plaid pages to birthday cards and thank you cards through the year. • About those Trees…My card was finished and ready to be photographed. There were no pine trees on the front of the card, but I knew I needed something else there. The plaid pattern (cropped with a Layering Squares Dies) was beautiful but not enough. I had just received the Still Scenes Bundle, so it was sitting on my desk – I immediately knew I wanted those trees from the Snow Globe Scenes Dies on the front of my card. Here’s a look at the Still Scenes Bundles (which includes the Still Scenes cling stamp set and Snow Globe Scenes Dies): Still Scenes Bundles, Stampin' Up! 153023With just a little surgery on the card, I was able to remove the band and sentiment, add the trees and then reposition my band and sentiment beneath the trees. Ahhh! That feels complete:Itty Bitty Christmas, Wrapped in Plaid, Snow Globe Scenes, Stampin' Up!, Brian King
  • Gorgeous Christmas Colors. With so many reds and greens in the current color families, there are so many great color combinations for Christmas. These patterns from the Wrapped in Plaid 6″ x 6″ Specialty Designer Series Paper feature Cherry Cobbler and Shaded Spruce with some small bands of gold foil. Love this Christmasy combination! If you like this mix of Gold Foil, Cherry Cobbler and Shaded Spruce as much as I do, please save this for future reference:Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration - Gold Foil, Cherry Cobbler, Shaded Spruce

Oh my goodness, Brian, this will be a very favorite Christmas card design of mine! I love everything about it! ❤️?❤️

  3. I love this beautiful card. The trees were the perfect touch. You are the king of using stamps in very versatile ways. The phrase you mentioned “have a sugar-sprinkled season” is great for a birthday or new year card with a little masking of “season”. I feel sure you have already figured that out. Congrats on placing #59 in Stampin Up Global Sales. Great job! Enjoy your day!

  4. Love the plaid ! I have my PLAIDS all ready to go and thanks for the inspiration. Also maybe I will get one of Suzy`s Brian inspired Christmas plaid cards .(Say that fast …tee hee )

  5. To quote Mary Poppins ” Practically Perfect In Every Way” You are very good with these challenges..esp layouts!

  6. First, congratulations on your achievements! The card, love this. What’s not to love? Great holiday colors, plaid, polka dots, trees and a great simple sentiment. Now, about that sentiment about that sugar sprinkled sentiment. Easy easy, Christmas cookies! Why not a good old fashioned Christmas donut with white icing and red and green sprinkles? Though I have a ton of holiday sets, maybe I need this set just so I can make some Christmas cookies. My oven isn’t working right anyway and a lot less calories. Maybe some ice stamping glitter on top of frosted embossing paste. Oh man, my brain is going in overdrive and its all your fault.

  7. LOVE how you arranged the plaid DSP…..And the sentiment placement is PERFECT!

  8. Classy – I love it!

  9. Who would ever think that dots and plaids would look so amazing together? I think this card goes down as one of my favorite “Brian” cards evah!!!!! It’s simple, it’s beautiful, it’s everything you would want a Christmas card to be! Can you tell I LOVE it?
