Timeless Tropical for FabFri177

What do you do when you have to make a card in the middle of the week and your new catalog pre-order just arrived? Well, you sit down to make a card with some fun, new products, of course. The FabFriday challenge that kicks off today gives me a sweet-and-simple layout for a sweet-and-simple card. Here’s my card:

FabFri177Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Timeless Tropical. My simple card is a bit different from all the Fall-themed and Christmas-themed cards I’ve been sharing lately. No regal tones here – all soft, sweet, cool tones.  The “cool feel” for this card started with the Timeless Tropical stamp set, new in Stampin’ Up!’s 2020 January – June Mini Catalog. This pair of trees just makes you want to roll out a big towel on the sand, right? Here’s a look at Timeless Tropical: Timeless Tropical, Stampin' Up!My card also features some coordinated, new products from this Tropical Oasis Suite. The Timeless Tropical Bundle includes the stamp set above and the coordinating In the Tropics Dies (used to cut the trees and the word “aloha”). The Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder is a breath of fresh air for a beautiful texture behind the trees.
  • Trios. Things look good in threes. I arranged the two trees (actually one item in this scenario) with a round sun and the sentiment banner to pay tribute to this rule of threes. It wasn’t intentional – just a habit for me. Here’s a closer look:Timeless Tropical, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingOnce everything was positioned on the card, I added another trio of accents with the Frosted & Clear Epoxy Droplets to the left of the sentiment. I colored the droplets with a Dark So Saffron Stampin’ Blend before gluing them down.
  • Tropicool Color Combination. The crumb cake on this card helps to set the tone for a tropicool card, but it’s the trio of yellow, blue and green that really pulls it all together. I chose soft colors to keep this card as cool as can be. If you like this mix of So Saffron, Pool Party and Old Olive as much as I do, please save this: Stampin' Up! 5. Well, I’m already drooling over this new set and haven’t even seen the catalog yet! I have to agree with Kadie that the EF is fantastic. At least there is something to be excited about after the holidays so we have something to look forward to. I am excited about seeing the new catalog and seeing what the new “in” colors are going to be. Thanks for the preview and amazing card Brian.

    • It’s a great catalog, Grace! Can’t wait for you to see it. New “in colors” don’t roll out until the Annual Catalog in June, but this catalog makes some old favorites seem so new. I always love the color combos!
