This week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge offers a retro sketch that takes us all the way back to challenge #73. What fun! I immediately knew what images and papers I wanted to showcase for this fun challenge. This 3″ x 3″ card didn’t take very long to pull together at all. Here’s my card:
- Still Scenes. While the Still Scenes stamp set and coordinating Snow Globe Scenes Dies are on Stampin’ Up!’s carryover list (they will be available for purchase after Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Holiday Catalog retires on January 2), the Still Scenes Bundle will NOT be available. At the end of the catalog period, all of the bundles (which offer a 10% discount) will retire. The products will carry forward individually after that. If you love a bundle, then get it now so you don’t miss out on the savings! Here’s a look at the Still Scenes Bundle:If you’d like to review all the retiring products in my online store, please CLICK HERE.
- Layering the Elements. It was so easy to layer the elements on this cardfront. The circle was punched along the edge of a piece of Wrapped in Plaid 6″ x 6″ Specialty Designer Series Paper with a 2-1/4″ Circle punch. Both the deer and grove of trees have a small base on them (see the shapes in the image of the dies above). I simply lined them up with each other, centering the base of the deer over the base of the trees) and glued them down. Easy! I stamped “Christmas Cheer” from Itty Bitty Christmas on Thick Whisper White cardstock and punched it out with the Classic Label Punch (I snipped off the pointed ends). It wasn’t until AFTER I made the card that I realized I COULD HAVE used the snow globe dome die to create the partial circle with a flat edge (and I still might do that at some point). How fun to have dies that are so versatile!
- Color Combination. The Christmas colors for this card (Shaded Spruce and Cherry Cobbler) were pulled right from the Wrapped with Plaid 6″ x 6″ Specialty Designer Series Paper – an AMAZING pack of papers from Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Holiday Catalog. This paper is retiring at the end of this catalog period, so get it now if you want it. ♥ Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in this pack of papers:The sweet deer added a little Crumb Cake to the mix. If you like this combination of Crumb Cake, Shaded Spruce and Cherry Cobbler, please save this for future reference:
