Christmas Cheer with Snow Globe Dies

This week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge offers a retro sketch that takes us all the way back to challenge #73. What fun! I immediately knew what images and papers I wanted to showcase for this fun challenge. This 3″ x 3″ card didn’t take very long to pull together at all. Here’s my card:

CTS351Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Still Scenes. While the Still Scenes stamp set and coordinating Snow Globe Scenes Dies are on Stampin’ Up!’s carryover list (they will be available for purchase after Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Holiday Catalog retires on January 2), the Still Scenes Bundle will NOT be available. At the end of the catalog period, all of the bundles (which offer a 10% discount) will retire. The products will carry forward individually after that. If you love a bundle, then get it now so you don’t miss out on the savings! • Layering the Elements. It was so easy to layer the elements on this cardfront. The circle was punched along the edge of a piece of Wrapped in Plaid 6″ x 6″ Specialty Designer Series Paper with a 2-1/4″ Circle punch. Both the deer and grove of trees have a small base on them (see the shapes in the image of the dies above). I simply lined them up with each other, centering the base of the deer over the base of the trees) and glued them down. Easy! I stamped “Christmas Cheer” from Itty Bitty Christmas on Thick Whisper White cardstock and punched it out with the Classic Label Punch (I snipped off the pointed ends).Snow Globe Scenes Dies, Itty Bitty Christmas, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingIt wasn’t until AFTER I made the card that I realized I COULD HAVE used the snow globe dome die to create the partial circle with a flat edge (and I still might do that at some point). How fun to have dies that are so versatile!
  • Color Combination. The Christmas colors for this card (Shaded Spruce and Cherry Cobbler) were pulled right from the Wrapped with Plaid 6″ x 6″ Specialty Designer Series Paper – an AMAZING pack of papers from Stampin’ Up!’s 2019 Holiday Catalog. This paper is retiring at the end of this catalog period, so get it now if you want it. ♥ Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in this pack of papers:Wrapped in Plaid 6" x 6" Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up! 2019 Holiday Catalog, 149596The sweet deer added a little Crumb Cake to the mix. If you like this combination of Crumb Cake, Shaded Spruce and Cherry Cobbler, please save this for future reference:Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration: Crumb Cake, Shaded Spruce, Cherry Cobbler

  3. What a great take on this challenge. Love the plaid DSP and adding the Crumb Cake deer make a very pretty card. Enjoy your day!

  4. PERFECT size card for those dies, and so beautiful! (Looks like Maine) : )

  5. Love the plaid and colors are perfect. My snow gone dies came but I didn’t even look at them. I just knew I wanted to use them eventually. Maybe the trees will come out to play soon. What really made me want to leave you a comment…. I looked at the sketch and saw a donkey face the way the flower was laid out. All the talk of the Iowa caucuses and all the calls saying so and so will be close by can we count on your support? What can I say?

  6. What a super duper gift tag this 3X3 card would make. I just love it and now I’m going to have to order this bundle pretty quick before it is no longer a bundle. This particular set was one that I debated over since the Holiday catalog came out. Now I have to play Last-Minute-Susie if I want to get it. Shame on me. Just a gorgeous miniature design and I do love miniatures. Thanks Brian.

  7. Brian I love3x3 cards, and you had me at plaid! ?
