Thanks for the Laughs

I love a good laugh, but I’m not normally drawn to stamp sets with “humorous” sentiments because…they aren’t always funny. Stampin’ Up!’s January-June 2020 Mini Catalog, though, introduces us to Thanks for the Laughs, a stamp set with legitimately funny sentiments that also have heart. I wanted to make a stylish, but simple, card to showcase one of my favorites from this set. Here’s my card:

Thanks for the Laughs, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingTips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Thanks for the Laughs. Thanks for the Laughs is all about friendship. Whether we roll with a large crowd or hang with a few special friends, we all have that ONE friend who makes us laugh, gets us into trouble and makes everyone feel special. If you don’t have a friend like that, then maybe YOU are that person? I love these sentiments so very much! They are fun, funny and full of heart! Here’s a look at the “front-of-the-card and inside-the-card” sentiments in Thanks for the Laughs:Thanks for the Laughs, Stampin' Up! 151670
  • Colorful Stripes. This might be too big of a conceptual leap, but I chose the black-and-white striped backdrop for this sentiment as a playful nod to prison stripes. None of us wants to end up in prison, but it’s fun to have that naughty friend who always walks the line with their antics. The stripes are part of the Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper, available as a free option during Sale-a-Bration when your order reaches $50. What fun! Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper: Golden Honey Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up! 152311I added three strips of cardstock to my black-and-white Designer Series Paper just behind the sentiment to add a little pop of color (and another nod to prison with the orange strip). Each strip is cropped just a smidge wider than 1/4″. I positioned “ENTERTAINED” just over the Mango Melody strip. Thanks for the Laughs, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingI mean, really! How fun is that sentiment?!
  • Entertaining Color Combination. The black-and white backdrop is brought to life with these bright, cheery colors. I started with Coastal Cabana, added a bit of Pineapple Punch and then fell in love with the addition of Mango Melody. What a beautiful mix of colors for a cold, dreary day! If you like this entertaining mix of Pineapple Punch, Mango Melody and Coastal Cabana as much as I do, please save this for future reference: Stampin' Up!
