Making cards is like a box of chocolates – you never know what you’re going to get. I sat down last night to make a masculine card with bold patterns and the “I can’t thank you enough” sentiment. I had it all planned out, but then I touched a beautiful floral paper, and the card became something decidedly non-masculine. Here’s my card:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- So Sentimental. I just love the fun sentiments in the So Sentimental stamp set – they are perfect for so many occasions. There are beautiful sentiments, bold sentiments and tiny, adorable sentiments. More than the stamps, though, I absolutely love the Stitched Sweetly Dies that coordinate with the set. These are a must-have, so you might as well pick them up with a 10% discount and earn a 10% discount on the stamp set when you buy them together as a bundle. Brilliant! Here’s a look at the So Sentimental Bundle:There’s something about the “I can’t thank you enough” sentiment that I love so much. I love the fonts, the words and the fun shape. I’ll be using this one a lot.
- Ribbon and Layers. If you were paying attention to the card at the top of this post, you probably gasped before standing up to exclaim, “Brian, you did it! You used ribbon!” The layers of Designer Series Paper and the incredible sentiment needed something more, so I reached for the Whisper White 1/4″ Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon (part of the Pleasant Poppies Suite) because I knew I couldn’t mess that up. I wrapped along the slant and added a tiny bow:Here’s a look at the ribbon that can be inked up and layered for beautiful accents on a project:To build the layers on my card, I cropped two pieces of Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper at 4-7/8″ x 3-5/8″. I cut the floral piece at a diagonal and then glued it to the Old Olive piece. Easy as can be!
- Color Combination. Both patterns of paper on my card are from the Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (part of the Best Dressed Suite in the January – June 2020 Mini Catalog). Here’s a look at the patterns and colors in this pack of papers: I pulled the Petal Pink and Old Olive right out of this pack of papers and paired them with a Crumb Cake card base for a little earthiness. I like to mix a little Neutral in with my colors. If you like this combination of Petal Pink, Crumb Cake and Old Olive, please save this for future reference:

Beautiful mix of prints and love the layout! I can’t wait to get and use these new dies!
🙂 Thanks so much, Windy! I see this stamp and die as masculine so I challenged myself to make it feminine. Changed my mind about how to use it. Glad you like it.
Love the touch of ribbon Brian, and what a fantastic set of sentiments!
Thanks, Dawn! I had everything set out without the ribbon and decided I needed something else. This gave me just what I needed. ♥
This card is PERFECT my friend.
♥ Thanks, Kadie!
I love this beautiful card, Brian. You’re right about the So Sentimental Bundle being a “must-have”. I love the stitched dies and the versatile sentiments. Have a great day!

Yay! I love to hear it! Thanks, Cindie! ♥
Be still my heart – Brian using ribbon on his gorgeous card design. The next thing we know he will be using glitter! This may be the year that Brian surpasses all and does a card with both ribbon and glitter! Wouldn’t that be worthy of a huge trophy for him? This card is amazingly beautiful Brian and I’m so proud of you for using ribbon in such a beautiful way.
Probably won’t be using glitter, but I’m happy for you to dream of it. 🙂 Thanks so much, Grace! I always appreciate your sweet comments.
Brian I love your card, the stitched dies makes the sentiment pop even more. Looking forward to playing with this soft, fun crinkled ribbon.
Thanks so much, Katrina! The dies are wonderful and so easy to work with. You can’t go wrong with a crinkled ribbon. 🙂

Lol, I DID gasp and say “Brian used ribbon!” Beautiful card. 🙂
Great card! I love the diagonal. I would not have thought about purchasing this paper pack but I think it has just become a must. Thank you for the inspiration!
