I’m excited to share that the CAS(E) This Sketch Design Challenge kicks off another week with a sketch I submitted. It’s always fun for me to create with these sketches I created months ago (and sometime roll my eyes and wonder what I was thinking when I designed it). This sketch is simple and straightforward – and I knew I wanted to showcase some of the beautiful pages from the Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. Here’s my card:
And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:
- Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. When I purchased the Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, I was not interested in the perfume bottles, purses and shoes. That changed, though, when I came across this sentiment from Stitched All Around last week. I have struggled to find a way to use this sentiment, but I quickly realized this paper was a perfect opportunity. How fun! Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper:If you’d like to tab through all the gorgeous prints in this pack of papers, click on the photo below:I can’t stop reaching for the pages in this pack of papers – the floral and basic print pages are so inspiring, but the girly pages can be quite fun, too!
- A Pop of Vellum. After I stamped this fun sentiment on Thick Whisper White, I cropped it with a 2-1/4″ Circle Punch. To make the large circle a little larger on my design, I cut out a larger circle with a piece of Vellum Cardstock and the Layering Circles Dies. I popped the Whisper White circle up with Stampin’ Dimensionals and layered it on the vellum circle before adding Stampin’ Dimensional to the back of the vellum (just over the other Stampin’ Dimensionals). The vellum allows the paper to pop through from behind. Love it!
- Optical Illusion. I used two designs from the Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper to build the striped patterns on my card base – a Purple Posy piece with white flowers and a Blackberry Bliss piece with white perfume bottles. The Purple Posy panel is 4-1/4″ wide and 4-1/2″ tall. The Blackberry Bliss panel is 4-1/4″ wide and 1-1/2″ tall. That means that each of the three bands are the same height. If you scroll back up, you’ll see that the Blackberry Bliss strip appears to be much thinner than the other two. I’ve measured them over and over for fear that I measured wrong – and they are all the same height. I guess the depth of color in the middle panel makes it look much smaller. Messing with my mind!
Stamp Sets: Stitched All Around Papers: Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, Blackberry Bliss, Vellum Cardstock, Thick Whisper White Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black Accessories: 2-1/4″ Circle Punch, Layering Circles Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to the CAS(E) This Sketch site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Oh Brian, I adore these colors, which are my favorite and you combined them beautifully on your sweet card. Love the softness of the Vellum behind your perfectly stamped sentiment.
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much, Maria! I don’t normally reach for purples, but I’m always happy when I do. Glad you like the card. ♥

I love love the florals in this set of paper ! So now you have shown me how to mix both sides . Plus I like what you did with the vellum ! I forget to pull it out because it sometimes does not know where it should go on my card . Thanks for the idea !
Oh I am going to CASE this lay-out for sure – just in time to whip up some Valentine’s day cards!
Love the floral background and the vellum really helps highlight the sweet sentiment. Beautiful card. Enjoy your day!
Oh Brian, YOU are fabulous! What could I ever add to that!
