Happy Valentine’s Day

I love the versatility of Stampin’ Up! products. When I first saw the adorable critters in the Bonanza Buddies Bundle, I knew these little birthday-celebrating buddies could also be a perfect Valentine’s Day friend. The little koala bear looks like he’s made to hold a heart and wish you a wonderful day. I never got around to sending Christmas cards, so I spent a weekend making a bunch of Valentine’s Day cards. While I couldn’t make enough to send a Valentine to all of my favorite people, many of my favorite people received one. Here’s the card I made:

Bonanza Buddies, Heartfelt, Stampin Up!, Brian King, Valentinesand here’s the inside of this card:

Bonanza Buddies, Heartfelt, Stampin Up!, Brian King, ValentinesI used several patterned papers to build the simple background for my card and coordinated the dotted heart and the heart in the koala’s hand with the background paper. The hearts were cropped with the Stitched Be Mine Dies. I used Flirty Flamingo, Real Red, Blushing Bride, Melon Mambo and Poppy Parade.

While many of my cards featured Brights and Subtles 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Papers, I used two other papers worth noting. One was designed for Valentine’s Day, and one was not. Here’s a look at the two papers I used outside of the Brights and Subtles 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Papers:

Such fun to see them all together. Here’s an infinity shot of these Valentine’s Day cards:

Bonanza Buddies, Heartfelt, Stampin Up!, Brian King, ValentinesThe scalloped, stitched panel on each card is cropped from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. While I free-hand stamped the hearts on the Thick Whisper White panel on the front of my card, I used my Stamparatus to stamp out all of the koalas (and didn’t have to line up the die with my stamped image every time) . Here’s how I did that, saving myself a lot of time:

  • I lined up a piece of cardstock in the corner of my Stamparatus.
  • I stamped the koala with Smoky Slate ink.
  • I carefully cropped the koala with the coordinating Bonanza Die.
  • I added the paper back to the Stamparatus.
  • I cropped a bunch of koala outlines with the Bonanza Die on blank Very Vanilla cardstock.
  • I placed the cutouts in the template on my Stamparatus and stamped the koala. Everything was perfectly aligned to allow me to stamp him over and over using the template I created.

I free-hand stamped the nose and eyes on each koala – it was easy to line up since the stamp set is photopolymer.

I love the simplicity of the card so much that I also created a simple tag that accompanied small gifts to some of my most recent customers. Here’s a look at the tag:

Bonanza Buddies, Heartfelt, Stampin Up!, Brian King, ValentinesIt’s a similar design as the card – I just cropped the tag with the tag dies in Bonanza Dies, added a sentiment from Meant to Be and tied a Satin Real Red Ribbon to the tag.

Here’s a list of all the products I used for these projects:

Bundles: Bonanza Buddies  Stamp Sets: Bonanza Buddies, Heartfelt, Meant to Be, Heart to Heart, Label Me Bold  Papers: Whisper White Note Cards and Envelopes, Very Vanilla  Inks: Smoky Slate, Memento Tuxedo Black, Real Red, Flirty Flamingo, Melon Mambo, Poppy Parade, Blushing Bride  Accessories: Bonanza Dies, Stitched Be Mine Dies, Real Red 3/8″ Double Stitched Satin Ribbon, Stampin’ Dimensionals

I hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day! ♥

  12. Oh Brian – did you really make all those cards and tags in one weekend? Well, of course you did – why would I ask such a question? It would take me a month to make that many and how dedicated you are to all of your customers to make so many. I love both the cards and the tags, that little koala is a heart catcher if ever there was one. Thanks also for your infinity shots. I’m always amazed by them. Happy Valentine’s Day and thanks for sharing.
