Today is the fourth day in a row that I’ve shared new products that will be a part of Stampin’ Up!’s new Sale-a-Bration Release on March 3. I’ve shared Rise & Shine, Tags in Bloom and the Flowering Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper. Today I’m sharing a project that coolly mixes another new stamp set, Well Dressed, with a classic argyle pattern from the Country Club Designer Series Paper. Here’s my card:
- Well Dressed and Lookin’ Sharp. The Well Dressed stamp set, one of the Sale-a-Bration items you can choose with a $50 purchase between March 3 and March 31, features some stylish, manly images – necktie, top hat, dress shoe and more. There are eight images in all, and I love every one of them. They are perfect for the man in your life – think about how perfect these images will be on a birthday, Father’s Day or a congratulatory card. Here’s a look at the soon-to-be-released Well Dressed:I paired this stylish hat with a sentiment found in Witty-cisms, a fun, new stamp set in Stampin’ Up!’s January – June 2020 Mini Catalog. I masked the cactus (that’s part of stamp) with clear tape to make sure I only stamped the sentiment onto the Whisper White band. Here’s a closer look at the images and sentiments in Witty-cisms:
- Layering. For a simple card, this one has a lot of layers, and each one works with the others to make a beautiful card that’s stylish and fun for the recipient. Here are the measurements for the layers on my card, starting with the card base and working my way up to the top:
- Seaside Spray – 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″
- Stampin’ Dimensionals
- Basic Black – 3-7/8″ x 3-7/8″
- Country Club Designer Series Paper – 3-1/4″ x 3-3/4″
- Vellum Cardstock – 3-1/4″ x 3-1/4″
- Stampin’ Dimensionals
- Basic Black – 2-3/8″ x 2-3/8″
- Seaside Spray – 2-1/4″ x 2-1/4″
- Whisper White (2-1/4″ x 3/4″) and Smoky Slate (2-1/4″ x 1/8″)
- Stampin’ Dimensionals
- Smoky Slate – cut cropped with Brother Scan & Cut
- Color Combination. Masculine cards don’t have be all-brown or all-blue. When making cards for men, I often add colors – color can still be masculine. I held back a bit on this one, creating a card that’s all-gray and a steal blue. That’s because I wanted to create a sophisticated, Old Hollywood feel. Here’s a closer look at the colors together:If you like this mix of Seaside Spray, Smoky Slate and Basic Gray as much as I do, please save this for future reference:

Brian,
Good morning! I immediately thought about the song “Sharp Dressed Man” by ZZ Top when I saw your card. My sweet husband jokingly has told our family for years that “Sharp Dressed Man” was written for him?Awesome card and love the color palette! (I always take a photo picture of the color palettes ? you share with us.)
Happy Sunday, Brian♥️
Your husband is, indeed, a sharp dressed man, Suzie! I assumed it was your influence. 🙂 So glad you like it. Thank you so much! ♥
Madmen and magnificent! Perfect argyle background!
♥ Thanks, Mary!
Now that is BRILLIANT using this stamp set with the argyle pattern DSP. It’s a PERFECT combination of two AMAZING products. Thanks for sharing!
GREAT card! Can’t wait to see what you do with the rest of the stamps in that set.
Thank you so much, Kadie! Your comments are always so kind. ♥

What a fun card for the right person. Enjoy your day!
Thanks, Hilda! Hope your day is wonderful, too! ♥
Love the hat placement at an angle . Reminds me of those old classic 40`s movies . This is a stamp set that I completely overlooked !
Great card !
It’s a fun set, Sonny! So glad you like the card. Thanks! ♥
Perfect color combination for looking sharp. You nailed it!
🙂 Thank you so much, Liz! I really love these sophisticated colors, too.
Such a great color combo and I love the vellum because it adds depth!
Thanks, Windy! ♥
Absolutely perfect color combination and card for any man. Again the use of vellum really makes this card outstanding. I’m glad you listed the layers because I didn’t realize how many there actually were. WOW! Very impressive Brian.
🙂 Thank you, Grace! I’m often times surprised by the number of layers once I try to list them out. 🙂
Great card! I love the gray argyle pattern with the blue. Ver good design work!
Thank you so much, Susan! I went through a couple of colors before landing on the steel blue of Seaside. So glad you like it, too!
Oooooooooo, I love it ♥️
Thanks, my friend! ♥
Brian you never, ever, cease to amaze me! I love how your brain works!
You’ve turned these “I don’t need stamp sets to must have”! Love this card.
I’m so happy to wake up the “I don’t need these” side of your brain. ♥ Thanks so much, Katrina!
My dad always wore hats like this! Love this! And the sentiment is perfect! Like it better with the hat than the cactus!
🙂 Thanks, Linda! I like the cactus but agree it works best with this fun hat. Thanks!
Brian, I love what you’ve done so simply with this witty sentiment and the hat.
Thanks, Karin. I don’t have the Best Dressed Bundle and really wanted something that speaks to style. This gave me just what I needed. Glad you like it! ♥
