Hello with Puzzle Pieces

Did you ever think that waving to a neighbor and saying hello could be so exhilarating?! After several days of rain in Atlanta, we went for a walk yesterday afternoon. It was warm, the birds were chirping and our neighbors were getting out of their houses for a little fresh air. Maintaining an appropriate distance, it was exciting to see faces and share a smile. Like the world we now live in, today’s “hello” card is a little puzzling (see what I did there?). Here’s my card for the FabFriday color challenge that kicks off today:

  • Puzzle Pieces. As we reach the end of Sale-a-Bration, I’m reaching back to the Annual Catalog for some fun products that might not be at the top of your wish list (but should be if you don’t already have them). I used the Puzzle Pieces dies to crop four puzzles – one in each of the colors for this challenge. I then pulled pieces from each of the puzzles to create a pattern with all four. What fun! Here’s a look at the Puzzle Pieces Dies: Puzzle Pieces Dies, Stampin Up! 151793The Puzzle Pieces Dies coordinate with the Love You to Pieces stamp set (SEE IT HERE), although I didn’t use any of these images on this card. Since you are going to pick up the Puzzle Pieces Dies, though, you should go ahead and pick up the stamp set, too. ♥
  • Vellum Halo. If you follow me regularly, then you already know how much I love to frame a sentiment with a panel of vellum – especially when there’s a fun pattern in the background. My sentiment was cropped with a 1-1/2″ Circle punch, and I framed it with a larger circle from the Layering Circles Dies. Here’s a closer look: Darling Label Punch Box, Puzzle Pieces Dies, Stampin Up!, Brian KingThe vellum really adds something special – and it’s quite sturdy, so each layer is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″. The Post Office charges extra for square envelopes, so a lot of people avoid them like the plague (which has new meaning these days). There’s something special, though, about a square card – and you don’t have to stop making them. As long as the square card will fit in a rectangular envelope, you are good! ♥ My card base is 4-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ so it fits perfectly inside one of Stampin’ Up!’s Medium envelopes – love it!

  1. Love button! Fabulous color combinationsand perfect for puzzling!

  2. So glad you could get out to walk! It has been hot here in Orlando with no rain and not much clouds…but I know the rainy season is a coming! Great idea for the the puzzle pieces with this color challenge. I like the pop of black, too!

    • Thanks so much, Windy! I think it’s supposed to heat up today – we’ll see if I can go for a walk this afternoon. Might have to start working it into my morning schedule. 🙂 Glad you like the puzzle pieces here. Be safe! ♥

  3. Hello Brian! Great card, we are definitely appreciating every little thing these days!

    • Thank you so much, Dawn! We’ve been making a puzzle in the evenings, so I think it sparked something in me to use the Puzzle Pieces Dies. Happy to share. ♥

  4. What a great card Brian! Using the black circle on the vellum circle was a super way to accent the gorgeous colors. I love bright and cheerful colors and I love doing puzzles so today’s card has it all. Thanks for sharing.

    • So happy to share, Grace! We’ve been working on a puzzle in the evenings, taking it little by little to spread it out over time. So glad you like the card. Be safe, my friend!

  5. This is a perfect design to represent the current time we live in. You arranged the colors perfectly.

  6. I love, love, love this card! The color combination is just beautiful. Thank you Brian!

    • Thank you so much, Joanne! I loved this challenge for pushing me to use this color combination I wouldn’t have, otherwise, used. So glad you like it. Thanks!

  7. Perfect card for the challenge colors. I love that you can get four cards. You’re a genius, my friend. I have been thinking about making a puzzle card that is interactive by letting the pieces be loose for the recipient to put together. While we all have time on our hands, I trying to figure it out for several of my shut-in friends. My husband and I keep a 1000-piece puzzle going on the dining room table all the time. Luckily we have quite a stash of them to last us through sheltering in place until at least May 15. Stay safe. Enjoy your day!

    • Thanks, Hilda! Years ago, I found some blank puzzles I wrote on and mailed pieces to a pen pal little-by-little. Such fun! We are also running a puzzle right now – it’s nice to pop in a couple of pieces each night. ♥ Glad to hear you are staying safe. ♥

  8. Well hello back atcha! What a fabulous way to use the challenge colors!
