Sweet Friend for CTS367

Spring is here – and it’s GORGEOUS outside. While I’m sitting inside at my computer most days, one eye is peeping out the window at the blooming flowers and green tree tops. As such, I’m making a lot of cards these days with soft, Spring colors. Such fun! Today’s card for the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge is no exception. Here’s my card:

Love What You Do, Welcome Easter, Stampin Up!, Brian KingAnd here’s the banner for this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge that inspired my card:

CTS_367Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Stamps. My card features three gorgeous colors that are cropped with the Stitched Rectangles Dies (love those handy guys!), but it’s the beautiful stamps on this card that make the colors so special. The trio of flowers if from the Love What You Do photopolymer stamp set. Here’s a look at this set:Love What You Do, Stampin' Up! 148042After I glued down the rectangles, I stamped the flowers on top of all three. I then stamped the flowers on Whisper White cardstock and snipped out the flowers. With a little paper-piecing (one of my favorite techniques), I glued those white flowers over the stamped flowers on my panels: Love What You Do, Welcome Easter, Stampin Up!, Brian KingI added the super-sweet “SWEET FRIEND” sentiment from the Welcome Easter stamp set. What a great set! I stamped it on Gray Granite (so it ties to the card base) and cropped it with the Classic Label Punch. • Sweet Colors. I really love the soft colors on this card – the soft pink, soft green and soft blue are really soft, don’t you think? Their subtle tones are magnified by the black, white and gray found on the rest of the card. If you like this mix of Petal Pink, Pear Pizzazz and Seaside Spray as much as I do, please save this for future reference:Stampin Up! Color Inspiration - Petal Pink, Pear Pizzazz, Seaside Spray
  • More with Love What You Do & Welcome Easter. While there are some great sentiments and images in the Love What You Do stamp set, I really love this trio of flowers most and have used it several times over the years. Here are two more projects that showcase these sweet flowers (you can click on the images below to see the original post for each project):Love What You Do, Itty Bitty Greetings, Stampin' Up!, Brian King Love What You Do, Stampin' Up!, Brian KingHere’s another project I previously shared with the adorable chick in the Welcome Easter stamp set (you can click on the photo below to read my original post for this project):Welcome Easter, Here's a Card, Stampin Up!, Brian King

Like you Brian, I’m staying indoors, crafting and cooking and Spring cleaning.
I love this card, beautiful image and lovely color combination, when I saw these little flowers on your card, I thought they were cut out with a die, your fussy cutting is fabulous. I’m also enjoying some color outside my craft room window and also, the Spring show the little critters put on every day, it’s sweet to know there’s still some sense of normalcy out there.
    Let’s hang in there.

    • Thank you so much for your sweet comments, Maria! I’m so glad you like my sweet-and-simple card. I had a lot of fun with this sketch and loved playing with these colors and flowers. It’s hard to find “normal” right now, so I’m glad the weather has been nice here. Nice to see the flowers and sunshine. All the best to you and your family!
