You’re the Best for FMS430

I can never have enough “thank you” cards. One of my favorite ways to say “thank you” is to, instead, tell someone how awesome they are. For today’s card, inspired by this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge, I’ve designed a simple, layered card that does just that – who doesn’t like to hear, “You’re the best!”? It’s simple, straight-to-the point and says exactly what I want it to say. Here’s my card:

• Two Favorites. My card combines two of my favorite items in Stampin’ Up!’s January – June 2020 Mini Catalog – the Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper and Thanks for the Laughs stamp set. The Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper is packed with “girlie things” like perfume, purses, shoes and lipstick, but there are also some amazing floral and coordinating designs in the papers, too. The Old Olive panel I used as the base of this design is the flip side of the gorgeous, floral piece I cropped with the Stitched Shapes Dies. Here’s a look at all the colors and patterns in the Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper:Thanks for the Laughs is filled with some really funny sentiments (see “We’ve been friends for so long I can’t remember which one of us is the bad influence” and “No one will ever be as entertained by us as us”), but there are some heartfelt, friendship sentiments in there, too! Be sure to read through all these sentiments so you can add this set to your collection of stamps:
• Layers & Tips for Layering. To ensure that my Stitched Shapes square of Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper wasn’t too flimsy on my card, I cropped a second square with Whisper White cardstock and glued it behind the Designer Series Paper. Such an easy way to make that layer a little more sturdy. Here are the measurements for the layers on my simple, layered card (starting with the base of the card and working up to the top):
  • Lovely Lipstick – 4-1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5-1/2″
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Thick Whisper White – 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″
  • Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper – 3-3/4″ x 5″

  • Whisper White cropped with Stitched Shapes Dies (square)
  • Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper cropped with Stitched Shapes Dies (square)

  • Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Thick Whisper White punched with Classic Label Punch
• Sophisticated Color Combination. I pulled the principal colors for this card straight from the colors in the Best Dressed 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. There are so many great colors in the one panel I showcased in the Stitched Shape cutout, but I added more Old Olive with the panel beneath the cutout, Lovely Lipstick with the heart and base panel of the card and Blackberry Bliss with the simple sentiment. Together, they are grand. If you like this mix of Old Olive, Lovely Lipstick and Blackberry Bliss, please save this for future reference:
