Let’s Cheer You Up!

If you need a pick-me-up, there’s nothing better than a big burst of yellow – there’s a reason why sunshine, lemons and sunflowers are such positive, uplifting images. On a bed of pink stripes, the sunflower on the card I’m sharing today is sure to provide a pick-me-up for the recipient. If the recipient doesn’t see the tiny flower on the card, then the sweet sentiment is sure to bring a smile. Here’s my card:

Celebrate Sunflowers, Lovely You, Stampin Up!, Brian KingThis card was created for the FabFriday challenge that goes live today – I loved playing with this mix of five colors. Here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

  • Two New Bundles. It’s always fun to play with new products. It’s even MORE fun when those products are completely amazing. My card features elements from two new bundles in Stampin’ Up!’s 2020 Annual Catalog, and I love both of them. The large flower and leaves are stamped with the Celebrate Sunflowers Bundle and cropped with the Sunflowers Dies. Here’s a look at this incredible, new bundle that’s available in Stampin’ Up!’s 2020 Annual Catalog (available on June 3):  Celebrate Sunflowers Bundle, Stampin Up! 154065The sentiment is from the Lovely You stamp set. I didn’t use the coordinating Lovely Labels Pick a Punch on this project, but you’ll see it soon! Here’s a look at the Lovely You Bundle:Lovely You Bundle, Stampin Up!, 154070
  • Brilliant Sunflower. Mindy’s color combination for this week’s challenge includes three pinks and two retiring 2018-2020 In Colors (Pineapple Punch and Call Me Clover). When these colors retire on June 2, the Pineapple Punch and Call Me Clover Stampin’ Blends will also retire. I gave these Stampin’ Blends one last hurrah on today’s card. Celebrate Sunflowers, Lovely You, Stampin Up!, Brian KingI stamped the flower on Thick Whisper White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and cropped the flower with the Sunflower Dies. As soon as the Memento Tuxedo Black ink dried, I colored the flower with Pineapple Punch Stampin’ Blends. The center of the flower is colored with a Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend, and the leaves are colored with Call Me Clover Stampin’ Blends. There’s so much depth and dimension to this gorgeous flower.
  • Striped Background. The yellow flower really pops against the striped background. I glued strips of pink cardstock to the Crumb Cake card base and snipped the strips along the edges. Here’s a closer look:Celebrate Sunflowers, Lovely You, Stampin Up!, Brian KingThe Blushing Bride strip (1) in the center is 1″ thick. The Melon Mambo strips (4) are 1/4″, and the Flirty Flamingo strips (2) are 1/2″ thick. Not only was it an easy way to incorporate the colors from this FabFriday challenge, but it’s a great way create a fun pattern on a card.
