Hippo Happiness for CTS376

Is there anything sweeter than a smiley hippopotamus? Hippos might be vicious, deadly creatures in the wild, but they certainly are adorable when put into cartoon form – and none are cuter than the hippo in Stampin’ Up!’s Hippo Happiness Bundle, new in the 2020 Annual Catalog. Here’s my simple card that features great elements from the new stamp set and coordinating dies that should definitely be on your wish list (if you haven’t already ordered it):

CTS_376 Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Hippo Happiness Bundle. There are so many elements to the Hippo Happiness Bundle that make it spectacular. If you haven’t really looked at it yet, I challenge you to click on the photo below and study the cute images, fun sentiments and versatile dies included in the Hippo Happiness Bundle: Hippo Happiness Bundle, Stampin Up! 154080I love the stitched frame that creates the home for the sentiment and hippopotamus on my card. I also used one of these dies to frame the sentiment on yesterday’s card – you can see that card here. So versatile!
  • Stamping the Hippo. Again, how adorable is this hippo? There are two stamps in the set that are used together to build this sweet guy. One of the stamps is the full shape of the hippo, and the other fills in his body, leaving the face and tail untouched. Here’s a closer look:Hippo Happiness Bundle, Stampin Up! Brian KingAnd here’s how I stamped him (using my Stamparatus to line him up perfectly):
    • I stamped his full body with Petal Pink.
    • I stamped his head and body with Flirty Flamingo, stamping it directly over the Petal Pink image.
    • With Memento Tuxedo Black, I stamped his face.
    • I smiled, admiring his adorableness when I was done.
  • Fun Color Combination. Even though the pink hippo and yellow banner are highlights on this card, it’s the backdrop of Pool Party, Misty Moonlight and Just Jade that make me so happy. Such a beautiful blend of blues and greens. I cropped the focal die twice – once with Pool Party for the base and once with Just Jade that I snipped and layered on top of the Pool Party cutout. If you like this mix of Pool Party, Misty Moonlight and Just Jade as much as I do, please save this for future reference:Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration - Pool Party, Misty Moonlight, Just Jade

  2. Adorable…love the two tone label die behind!

  3. That Hippo goes BEYOND being adorable. And his pretty pink color completes him. I must admit…..I ordered the dies (mainly for all the frames available) …… But thinking I might now have to get the stamp set. Thanks….I think?

  4. The stitched frames in this bundle are fabulous………and, of course, the hippo is far beyond cute. Great card today Brian. Thanks for sharing.

  5. Great card, Brian. This bundle is on my “must have” list & SOON. Love your colors too.

  6. I’m like Kadie and want the dies, but now I’m rethinking that I might as well get the bundle to use the stamps. Your card is adorable with the pink hippo. Great job! Enjoy your day!

  7. Your card is a cutie ,but to be honest that stamp set looks totally confusing to me ! I will probably end up getting the BUNDLE at some point because your happy hippo is so cute !! I am more interested in your two colored back ground piece ! COOL !!

  8. Well thia guy just makes me smile! So fresh and clean…..not a speck of mud on him anywhere!

  9. How cute is this? I love how you changed up the shape from the circle to that label. The way you did a two tone design on it too is fabulous. Such a fun card.
