Be Inspired by Something New

It’s time for another Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop – what fun! The Be Inspired Design Team is a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from all over the world who are excited to share our themed projects with you. I’m so honored to be a part of this group of talented stampers!

For today’s Be Inspired Blog Hop, we are sharing projects that showcase something new. With a brand new catalog released this month, it’s not difficult to find something new I want to share. What fun! If you aren’t starting the hop here, then you probably just popped over from the amazing project shared by my talented friend Carolynn Sander.

With all the brand new stamp sets and bundles in Stampin’ Up!’s 2020 Annual Catalog, you might imagine it difficult to pick ONE to showcase. Because I didn’t want to offend any of my new favorites by picking one, I decided to showcase stamp sets carried forward from last year’s annual catalog and this year’s January – June 2020 Mini Catalog. There are some great, new elements on this card, though!

By the Dock, Itty Bitty Birthdays, Stampin Up!, Brian KingI stamped five oars on Whisper White cardstock with StazOn Jet Black Ink, alternating the orientation of each oar. The oars are stamped with the By the Dock stamp set. Such fun! Once the permanent ink dried, I colored fun patterns on the oars with all five of Stampin’ Up!’s 2020-2022 In Colors – Bumblebee, Cinnamon Cider, Just Jade, Magenta Madness and Misty Moonlight. My Stampin’ Write Markers were a perfect choice to color these tiny patterns. Here’s a look at these new (and absolutely incredible) 2020-2022 In Colors:

Stampin Up! 2020-2022 In Colors Brian KingThere’s a lot of Misty Moonlight on this card. It’s currently my favorite new color, but I also have secret love affairs with three of the others (and am mesmerized by the fourth). Not only are the Misty Moonlight elements on the oars, but the base of the card, frame layers and wood grain background layer are also Misty Moonlight.

Misty Moonlight, Stampin Up! 2020-2022 In ColorWith the release of the Annual Catalog, Stampin’ Up! also gave us new 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper in all of our colors – here’s a look at the new patterns (shown here in the 2020-2022 In Colors):

2020-2022 In Color Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up! 153070Here’s a closer look at the fun patterns I colored on these oars with my Stampin’ Write Markers and the wood grain backdrop from the 2020-2022 In Color 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper:

By the Dock, Itty Bitty Birthdays, Stampin Up!, Brian KingAren’t those fun?! I grabbed the idea to color these oars from the back pages of Stampin’ Up!’s January – June 2020 Mini Catalog. I loved the idea, tucked it away and pulled it out today. 🙂

Here are the products I used on today’s card:

Stamp Sets: By the Dock, Itty Bitty Birthdays  Papers: 2020-2022 In Color 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, Misty Moonlight, Whisper White  Inks: Misty Moonlight, StazOn Jet Black, Stampin’ Write Markers (2020-2022 In Colors) Accessories: Classic Label Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals

Brian, I would never have thought of framing the DSP with the same color card stock, but it looks amazing on this card, the oars stand out beautifully with the colors you chose and the fun designs on each.
    Stay healthy and safe.

    • Thank you so much, Maria! I was afraid there might be an overwhelming amount of Misty Moonlight here, but the Stampin’ Dimensionals helped to separate it a bit – and pulled my eye right to the oars. Glad you like it! ♥

  2. Brilliant in every way. Love how you used the markers to create the blocks of color!

  3. Cool way to color the oars! You are so clever! Great card!

  4. This is so clever!

  5. I agree that your creative coloring is very clever and I love the subtle DSP. Enjoy your day!

  6. Love it! You are so creative! Taking that small image and making it the whole card.

  7. WOW Brian…….Those oars are over-the-top FUN.

  8. Too bad I don’t live by a lake. These beautiful oars would look fantastic crossed on a wall if they were real. Again, your perfect placement both vertically and horizontal spacing amazes me. I certainly agree with everyone else that the way you colored the oars was a stroke of artistic genius. I just love this card. Thanks for sharing Brian!

    • Thank you so much, Grace! I took my time stamping these oars. I thought I would crop them out, but I couldn’t get them lined up perfectly in the die cutting machine, so stamping became the method. 🙂 Glad you like it!

  9. Such a fun card and a good use of all the new InColors!

  10. Love this card and your use of our new In Colors! I’ll have to case this one for sure!

  11. Love the way you thought outside the box for this card!

  12. Such a handsome card today Brian! The blue background sets off your clever oars beautifully. How fun to see the variations you created on each one. Well done!

  13. I adore those perfectly colored oars!

  14. I really like the new patterns of the wood and the denim look with the color series of designer paper . You picked that great wood pattern to accent your pretty oars ! Perfect choice and who doesn`t like that dreamy shade of blue ?

    • Thank you so much, Sonny! I really like the new patterns, too! I’ve played with all of them (and will showcase the fourth pattern later this week). Like you, I’m in love with Misty Moonlight. ♥

  15. You are a clever man, Brian! First, how did you get all those oars stamped so evenly? I’m at that spot in my life when I don’t try anymore, and sometimes I just go with my stamped images a little wonky. It looks like I intended it. Your oars are super cool, and I love your coloring. Having that DSP as part of the layer is genius (wood grain). Beautiful card!

    • Thank you so much, Bobbi! When I couldn’t get the dies to crop the images exactly, I decided to stamp them. Careful placement, I guess. I typically use my Stamparatus to line things up perfectly, but I think I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig for this one. ♥

  16. Stunning card Brian. Adding those coloured patterns to the oars was a touch of genius.
PS, I’m also mesmerized by Magenta Madness. So pink!!! ?

  17. Very cool card, Brian. Very masculine. Greatly enhanced by wood grain background. Well done!

  18. Love your card Brian and such a great way to showcase the new In Colors x

  19. Oars-some! what a cool way to showcase the in-colours
