Whale Done!

This past weekend was full of great fun and some worthwhile accomplishments! We went to see Mom this weekend – first time we’ve seen her since March. We delivered some furniture to her new house (she moved in May) and brought her home with us for the weekend. I also added a lot of new items to my retired store, so orders were pouring in all day. What fun! If you missed that announcement, CHECK IT OUT HERE.  It feels so good to re-home those goodies. I also hosted my first local club since the initial COVID lockdown. No hugs, no close-talking and lots of hand-sanitizing and hand-washing. I guess you could say I had a really great weekend, and I couldn’t be happier. Here’s my card that further pats me on the back for getting things done:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Whale Done. I couldn’t love the Whale Done Bundle more than I do. For starters, it’s a photopolymer-and-punch bundle (cue the cash register ring that tells us it’s a great deal). The images and sentiments are really great. The punch works well on its own, but why would you use it alone when you could have all of these great accessories to go with it. Here’s a look at the Whale Done Bundle:Whale Done Bundle, Stampin Up! 154053Here’s another card I recently made with the bundle – I stamped the whale from the stamp set for this card and punched it out with the Whale Builder Punch. Here’s a look at that project (you can click on the photo below to see my original post for the project): Whale Done Bundle, Stampin Up!, Brian King
  • Accessories. All of the components of the Whale Builder Punch come together to make an adorable whale. Here’s a closer look:Whale Done Bundle, Whale Builder Punch, Stampin Up!, Brian KingThere are some other accessories that make this card so special – the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper panel in the background, the seaweed from the Smooth Sailing Dies and the large Stitched Shapes circle that serves as a fun backdrop for the sweet whale.
  • Color Combination. The Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper is filled to the brim with beautiful greens and aquas. I knew my whale would be Pretty Peacock, so I looked for a pattern of paper that would give a fun, water-like backdrop. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper: Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up! 152494While the panel I used features Pretty Peacock and Pear Pizzazz, I pulled Pretty Peacock and Soft Sea Foam from the colors in the paper and added a little Pool Party to complete the trio. If you like the combination of Soft Sea Foam, Pool Party and Pretty Peacock as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference: Stampin' Up! Good morning, Brian!
I LOVE your whale card! The color palette, the DSP you chose, the adorable whale ? punch … and I have been eyeing that turtle ? in the stamp set as well? Great job! You had quite the weekend! Glad to hear your local club was able to get together, again, too.

    • Thanks, Suzie! I think the turtle in this set is pretty adorable, too! I was happy to see the club members, too. We had to take extra precautions around each other, but it was worth it. ♥

  2. I’m so glad you got to see your mother. I’m sure she has been missing you and as much as you have been missing her. What a great weekend for all of you! Your card is a perfect way to pat yourself on the back for accomplishing so much. I love the color combo. Enjoy your day!

    • Isn’t Wally adorable?! So glad you like him. ♥ I’ve not really been “out and about” since the pandemic started, so I didn’t have much practice with the masks. Definitely learned how to tolerate them on this trip. 🙂
