InKing Royalty Blog – Christmas in July

InKing Royalty Blog Hop - Christmas in JulyMany of my Stampin’ Up! team members (not only those with blogs) share their gorgeous projects in our team’s Facebook community – there’s such amazing and inspiring creativity in this group! I’m always excited when my team’s blog hop rolls around, though, because I get to share some of their amazing work with you. I’m just as excited to see their projects as you are, and I am proud to share them with you.

I’m also excited to welcome Janneke de Jong, my dear friend from the Netherlands, to today’s hop. Janneke is a talented artist and Stampin’ Up! demonstrator. She makes gorgeous projects for her Happy Stampin blog. So happy to have Janneke as an honorary Royal today.

Janneke de JongWelcome to InKing Royalty’s July Blog Hop! During this year’s blog hops, we are enjoying a year of celebrations. This month’s projects celebrate Christmas in July. Demonstrators have been able to order new products from the upcoming August-December Mini Catalog, so prepare yourself for a gorgeous mix of new products, products available in the Annual Catalog and returning favorites. What fun! We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

Season’s Greetings with Merry Moose

My card features three classes of products – (1) new items available in Stampin’ Up!’s 2020 Annual Catalog, (2) carry forward items available in Stampin’ Up!’s Annual Catalog and (3) carry forward items that will be returning in Stampin’ Up!’s August – December 2020 Mini Catalog. What fun! Here’s my card for today’s Christmas in July InKing Royalty Blog Hop:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Quite an Impression! At the heart of this card, is a rustic moose who is taking a stroll through a tree-filled backdrop. Rather than stamp the sketched moose and punch him out, I decided to create a fun, abstract image by combining Merry Moose with Mountain Air. Here’s a closeup of the moose: Merry Moose, Still Scenes, Stampin Up!, Brian KingI inked up the shadow image of the moose with Sahara Sand ink and stamped it off once on scrap paper. Here’s a look at Merry Moose (returning favorite in the upcoming August – December Mini Catalog): Merry Moose, Stampin Up! 150494I then inked up the horizon of trees in Mountain Air with Soft Suede ink and stamped them directly on the stamp of the moose from above. Here’s a look at the Mountain Air Bundle (a bundle in Stampin’ Up!’s 2020 Annual Catalog that was carried forward from its January – June 2020 Mini Catalog):Mountain Air Bundle, Stampin Up! 153820With both images combined on the moose stamp, I then stamped the moose on Thick Whisper White cardstock and punched it out with the Moose Punch (also a returning favorite in Stampin’ Up!’s August – December 2020 Mini Catalog). • Other Elements. So…the tree-painted moose takes center stage on this card (I had so much fun with that stamp-on-stamp technique), but there are some other elements on this card worth mentioning. Here are the other products I’ve showcased here:
    • In Good Taste Designer Series Paper (new in the 2020 Annual Catalog). The wood grain background is pulled from the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper, a pack of photographic images of different textiles in different colors. The 12″ x 12″ pack of papers includes 24 sheets (2 each of 12 designs). Such a versatile and gorgeous pack of papers.
    • Still Scenes (carried forward into the 2020 Annual Catalog). The gorgeous sentiment on this card is from Still Scenes, a stamp set that originally appeared in the 2019 Holiday Catalog. The set coordinates with the Snow Globe Scenes Dies (the dies also coordinate with Zoo Globe in the 2020 Annual Catalog.
    • Beautiful Boughs (carried forward into the 2020 Annual Catalog). The pine branch behind the moose is cropped with the Beautiful Boughs Dies that originally appeared in the 2019 Holiday Catalog, along with the coordinating Peaceful Boughs stamp set.
  • Color Combination. The natural panel of wood and the brown moose gave me a neutral-toned starting point for this card. I love mixing up colors, but I also love a mix of natural colors – so rustic, so outdoors.  If you like this mix of Sahara Sand, Mossy Meadow and Early Espresso as much as I do, please save this for future reference:Stampin' Up! Brian, I was blown away when I realized you had stamped a stamp with a stamp! I thought, at first glance, you might have stamped the moose image on DSP. After a few sips of coffee, I realized the trees were stamped in the moose! (In my defense, the sun hasn’t risen yet and I’m sitting in a dark family room ?) It’s as if the moose and the tree stamps were made for each other! Outstanding, Brian! ??⛰

    • Thank you so much, Suzie! I COULD HAVE just stamped the trees and punched them out, but the silhouette of the moose gave me just what I needed to execute a clean image with a white border. It was such fun! I’m so happy you like it! ♥
