Snowflake Wishes for a Merry Christmas

If you haven’t yet reviewed my post for Day 2 of My Favorite Things from Stampin’ Up!’s August – December 2020 Mini Catalog (you can see that post here), then you are in for a big surprise today. To temper the shock, you may want to go back and read it before moving on. ♥ Today, I’m featuring a card I’ve made with Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper – and experienced no anxiety working with this paper. Here’s my card shiny, clean card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Snowflake Wishes Bundle. If you love snowflakes (who doesn’t?!), then you really need to take a look at Snowflake Wishes Bundle – or the entire Snowflake Splendor Suite. There are so many wonderful snowflake images in the stamp set and a variety of incredible sentiments. The excitement doesn’t end there, though – just check out the amazing So Many Snowflake Dies that coordinate with the stamp set and come with the Snowflake Wishes Bundle at a 10% discount. Here’s a look at the Snowflake Wishes Bundle:Snowflake Wishes Bundle, Stampin Up! 155172Some of the dies crop out snowflakes, while other etch a snowflake into your cardstock without a pop-out snowflake. So many fun options! I cropped the smallest snowflake in the set and built a base for my focal panel with Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper: Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper, Stampin Up! 153513What do I love so much about this paper? It’s shiny and beautiful, but there’s NO SHEDDING at all. I don’t have specks of glitter on my desk or on my fingers or in my eyes. That’s always a good thing!
  • Foam Adhesive Sheets. Have you tried the Foam Adhesive Sheets (new in Stampin’ Up!’s 2020 Annual Catalog)? While they are billed as the perfect way to pop up letters with the Playful Alphabet Dies (and they are!), there are so many other great ways to use these sheets. After I cropped the snowflake with the So Many Snowflakes Die and the Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper, I cut the same snowflake into a Foam Adhesive Sheet. I pealed back the top layer of the adhesive sheet, glued down the snowflake and then popped it out of the sheet. I removed the backing and stuck it right on the card front. Here’s a look at the Foam Adhesive Sheets: Foam Adhesive Sheets, Stampin Up!, 152815I was surprised by how easy it was to crop the detailed snowflake from the Foam Adhesive Sheets and Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper. My original concept of this card featured three large snowflakes on the panel above the sentiment. After I had cropped all of them and popped them up with the Foam Adhesive Sheets, I decided that a single, small snowflake would give me the clean look I wanted.Snowflake Wishes Bundle, Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper, Stampin Up!, Brian King
  • Blue Christmas. I love traditional greens and reds for Christmas, but blues have also become a favorite. My card showcases the simple mix of Whisper White, Balmy Blue and Night of Navy. If you like this mix of colors, please save this for future reference: Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration - Whisper White, Balmy Blue, Night of NavyI used this color combination last year for a card with a snowy scene with the Feels Like Frost 6″ x 6″ Specialty Designer Series Paper (which has returned in this year’s August – December 2020 Mini Catalog). Here’s that card (if you’d like to see my original post for this card click on the image): Merry Christmas to All, Feels Like Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper, Stampin' Up!, Brian King

  12. I was at a retreat with a bunch of other stampers this weekend and there was a huge conversation and many gasps of amazement at “did you see that Brian used Glimmer paper in a card? ” (you don’t need a last name anymore when the conversation about glitter comes up). So, I had to come and see this unicorn for myself!

It’s a lovely card! And while the Stampin’ Up! Glimmer Paper is absolutely no mess, I applaud you for going outside your comfort zone to try it. Did you wear a mask and gloves?
