Happy Haunting for the InKing Royalty Blog Hop

Many of my Stampin’ Up! team members (not only those with blogs) share their gorgeous projects in our team’s Facebook community – there’s such amazing and inspiring creativity in this group! I’m always excited when my team’s blog hop rolls around, though, because I get to share some of their amazing work with you. I’m just as excited to see their projects as you are, and I am proud to share them with you.

September - InKing Royalty Halloween Blog HopWelcome to InKing Royalty’s September Blog Hop! During this year’s blog hops, we are enjoying a year of celebrations – this month’s projects are all about Halloween. Prepare yourself for wonderful mix of spooky, scary and sweet. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

Happy Haunting

I always approach Halloween with trepidation. Since I don’t like to be scared, I’m not a huge fan of the frightening, ghoulish side of the holiday. Since I don’t have children, I don’t really experience the cute, creative side of the holiday, either. Though I may try, we’ve not received a single trick-or-treater in nine years. When I sat down to make my card for this hop, I wanted to embrace the scary, midnight side of the Halloween holiday. Here’s my card:

Banner Year, Halloween Magic Dies, Stampin Up!, Brian King

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Spooky Bundles. My spooky card features elements from two bundles in Stampin’ Up!’s August – December 2020 Mini Catalog and some items from the 2020 Annual Catalog. The sweet sentiment (how adorable for a haunting to be happy) is from the Banner Year stamp set, part of the Banner Year Bundle. Here’s a look at this bundle:Banner Year Bundle, Stampin Up! 155214The really cool banner and super-spooky bats were cropped with dies from the Halloween Magic Dies, part of the Hallows Night Magic Bundle. Here’s a look at this incredible bundle (that’s both scary and beautiful):Hallows Night Magic Bundle, Stampin Up! 155188The tree that is silhouetted by the yellow moon is from the In the Woods Dies (you can click here to see them in my online store). • Magic in This Night. There are two Basic Black panels on my card that create the focal base of my project. Both pages are pulled from the Magic in This Night Designer Series Paper, a collection of beautiful, classic prints with a frightening edge. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Magic in This Night Designer Series Paper: Magic in this Night Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, 153517
  • Spooky Color Combination. While I love the big, bold Daffodil Delight moon that spotlights the tree and bat on this card, it’s the collection of black and grays that really stands out to me. While shades of black and gray can be very sophisticated, they are also perfect for a spooky card. If you like this mix of Smoky Slate, Basic Gray and Basic Black as much as I do, I hope you will save this for future reference: Stampin' Up! Color Inspiration - Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, Basic Black
