The Right Triangle and a Grand Kid

Brace yourself…there’s something about my card that you don’t see too often. If you follow me, then you know how much I love Stampin’ Up!’s ribbons (I’m excited to share ribbon with you when I host product shares, and I love how the ribbons and other accessories perfectly coordinate with Stampin’ Up!’s colors and suites). What you’ve likely noticed, too, is that I don’t often put ribbon on my cards. Today’s a special day, though – there’s a big blue bow on my card – it was the perfect touch to my monochromatic card. Here’s my card:

The Right Triangle, A Grand Kid, Stampin Up!, Brian King

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • The Right Triangle Bundle. The card panel between the card base and the sentiment panel consists of a piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock and two stamped, cropped triangles from The Right Triangle Bundle. This treatment of the triangles was inspired by the Mint Macaron card on page 35 of the Annual Catalog. I love that the pinstriped triangle is an important design element on the card but that it isn’t the focal point. Here’s a look at the really great The Right Triangle Bundle, which is found in Stampin’ Up!’s 2020 Annual Catalog:The Right Triangle Bundle, Stampin Up! 154079Good news! As a bonus (since I know you just added The Right Triangle Bundle to your shopping cart)…Tree Angle (another fun, geometrical play on words) is a Christmas stamp set designed to also coordinate with the Stitched Triangles Dies. The stamp set is from Stampin’ Up!’s August – December 2020 Mini Catalog. Here’s a look at this fun stamp set: Tree Angle, Stampin Up! 153442
  • A Grand Kid. I’m going to surprise you again…I don’t have grandchildren. Could you have ever guessed it? Still, I absolutely adore the A Grand Kid stamp set. There are some great sentiments in the set for grandmothers or grandfathers, but there are some that are also great for anyone. Here’s a look at the sentiments in this stamp set:A Grand Kid, Stampin Up! 152500While the outside features “So Smart, So, Fun, So SWEET and so WONDERFUL!,” the fun sentiment wraps up on the inside of the card with “We must be related!” How else would you wrap up such a wonderfully complimentary sentiment?! I had an extra triangle, so I added it to the inside of my card: The Right Triangle, A Grand Kid, Stampin Up!, Brian King
  • Monochromatic Misty Moonlight. There’s a lot of gorgeous blue on this card – and each blue element plays with the Whisper White. This isn’t the first time I’ve made a monochromatic card with Misty Moonlight – while today’s card is festive and fun, the last card was sophisticated and elegant. Here’s a look at that card (you can click on the picture to see the original post for this card): Fancy Phrases, Beautiful Autumn, Stampin Up!, Brian KingMisty Moonlight is a gorgeous blue that’s darker than Pacific Point and lighter than Night of Navy, a perfect addition to our color collection with the 2020-2022 In Colors.  Misty Moonlight, Stampin Up! 2020-2022 In ColorDid you know you can shop by your favorite colors? 4. OH! Brian what a wonderful and very elegant card, love the sentiment and the design and the insert that finishes it off with aplomb! Love it.

  5. Love the big bow . . . looks like a birthday gift! I can’t wait to use the triangles this way!

  6. You rock that ribbon! Great layout with triangles!

  7. You can do ribbon! Who knew? Great monochromatic card. You really know how to lay out a card for maximum effect. This one is a stunner.

    • Thank you so much, Susan! This was going to be a simple card with the sentiment running up the diagonal between the two triangles. At some point, I let it simmer for a bit before coming up with the additional panel. Glad you like it! ♥

  8. This card is absolutely elegant. That is the only word I could come up with to describe my conception of it. You are one amazing dude Brian. Can you tell I love it?

  9. Only you…would find a way to show me a stamp set that was never on my radar, and change my mind! And today, you’ve given me three! What a fabulous monochromatic card! And I love the triangle on the inside. A nice surprise. Thanks for the inspiration.❤?

  10. Love this card with the special sentiment on the front and inside. For a moment I thought I was on another blog because you rarely use ribbons. Great job! Have a great day!

  11. If there’s hope for you and ribbon, there’s hope for me and ribbon. Happy Friday!

  12. The bow is beautiful, Brian! Love the design, pattern, sentiment… everything. Another Brian King success!

  13. Great card ! I especially like the triangle on the interior ! I like it !

  14. You sure know how to rock the sentiments Brian!

  15. What a great card! You know I love those triangles! You know I would have probably laid those triangles flat on the card base, but popping it on the same colored cardstock panel like you did gives the card a subtle, but richer look, not to mention probably a lot easier to position those triangles. Love!

  16. Love the card. I bought the set to make paper quilt cards for my quilting friends. Now I am inspired to make cards that have the sentiment going at angle.

  17. Love this Brian .. also think anyone smart, fun and sweet would no doubt be related to you! And to me as well … you sure we aren’t related? Miss seeing you .. praying you are all keeping safe and well ?
