Peace on Earth with Dove of Hope

Our lives have been really crazy lately, and the world seems anxious and unsettled. What we need right now is a little peace and love. That’s what inspired me to reach for my Dove of Peace Bundle to make a soft and beautiful card that shares the poignant message of the Christmas season that’s even more important than ever. Here’s my Dove of Hope card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Dove of Hope Bundle. Peace, Joy and Love – these are social concepts that are typically applied to the Christmas Holidays, but there’s no reason why they shouldn’t be highlighted throughout the year. While the Detailed Dove Dies, part of the Dove of Hope Bundle, includes a large dove that can be cropped with just the dies, I featured a branch and one of the doves from the stamp set. Here’s a look at the Dove of Hope Bundle: Dove of Hope Bundle, Stampin Up! 155158There are three great samples shared in the online store that were crafted by Stampin’ Up! designers – they are all so different from the card I made, so I wanted to share them with you, too. • Painting on Stamps. It’s one of the oldest tricks in the stamping arsenal. If you’ve been stamping for a while, it might be the first way you ever inked up a stamp. I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to paint the branch with Soft Suede and the leaves with Shaded Spruce before giving the stamp a huff of hot air and stamping onto Thick Whisper White cardstock. My dove was a little different – I inked up the image with a Smoky Slate ink pad, wiped the ink from the branch in the stamp set and then painted the leaves with my Shaded Spruce Stampin’ Write Marker. Before the ink dried, I used a Blender Pen to pull the green ink from the leaves and pull it into the center of each leaf. When the ink dried, I used my Pool Party Stampin’ Blends to color the berries.
  • Snowflake Splendor. While I’ve been inspired by the colors in the Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper and made a ton of swatchbooks and shares with the papers, this is the first project I’ve made with the gorgeous papers in the Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Papers. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper:Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up! 153512I liked it so much that I used TWO pages from this pack of papers. The 4″ x 5-1/4″ panel that serves as the base of my card is the fourth one shown on the second row. The 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″ panel that serves as the top layers behind the Stitched Nested Labels Die is the fifth page shown on the first row above.
