You are Wonderful – A Big Thank You From Me to YOU

I’m so grateful for paper crafting – it gives me a reason to be creative each and every day. I’m also grateful for the kindness you show when I share my 4-1/4″ x 5″ creations with you. You are wonderful. Today I want to thank YOU for a gift you’ve given me (and helped me to give to others), and then I’m sharing a sweet, simple thank you card I made for you.

A Big Thank You from Me to You

At the end of July, I shared a post about two ways you could help me with sharing the joy of card making. I shared an article about my Great Aunt Margie and what she was doing to stay busy during the pandemic. I requested cards for Margie and, at the same time, cards for those who are isolated from family and loved ones during the pandemic. You can see the original post here.

Throughout August and September, cards poured in – my mailbox was filled nearly every day.

From this outpouring of love a support, I received:

Aunt Margie was so thrilled when I talked with her the day her first box of cards arrived. She immediately opened the box and sat down in her chair to read through each and every one. While I told her she didn’t need to write anyone back, she ignored me. šŸ™‚ I think she’s picked up a couple of pen pals through this. I can’t tell you how much I love that! ♥♥♥

Given current health restrictions (that gave me a reason to collect cards for these lovely people), I couldn’t be there to see the recipients when they received the cards, but I imagine they were thrilled.

While there were a lot of people who sent a handful of cards, many of you sent boxes filled with cards and lovely handwritten notes inside. I can’t thank you enough. I could see the love in each of the cards.

Special thanks to the following who each sent more than 40 cards:

  • Carole Gaines
  • Beth Geraghty
  • Gail Tomita
  • Jana Miner
  • Jackie Beers
  • Shila Froehlich

And thanks to the following who each sent between 20 and 39 cards:

  • Linda Williamson
  • Diana Barber
  • Cecilia Bowman
  • Leigh Williams
  • Melly Turner
  • Chris Robinson
  • Maureen Barry

I can’t tell you how wonderful this has been to share your cards with those who are feeling isolated and shut off from family and friends. You are special people, and I am grateful to you.

Thank you!

You are Wonderful

I can’t go two days in a row without showing a new card, so I created this card as a THANK YOU to everyone who participated in either of the requests I shared above:

Jar of Flowers, Rooted in Nature, Stampin Up!, Brian King, thank you cardI stamped “You are wonderful” from Rooted in Nature on Calypso Coral cardstock. I’ve always love the flat edge on the top of this sentiment and thought it would be fun to top it with flowers. These flowers from Jar of Flowers gave me just what I needed – a sweet bushel of flowers with a super-sweet sentiment. I colored the flowers with a mix of Stampin’ Blends, giving a light touch of color to the arrangement. I used a mix of Calypso Coral, Cajun Craze, Daffodil Delight and Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends. Here’s a closer look:

Jar of Flowers, Rooted in Nature, Stampin Up!, Brian King, thank you cardI cropped the sentiment with Stitched Rectangles Dies and then added a panel of Playing with Patterns 6″ x6″ Designer Series Paper on the Calypso Coral base.

Stamp Sets: Jar of Flowers, Rooted in Nature  Papers: Playing with Patterns 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, Calypso Coral, Thick Whisper White  Inks: Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, Stampin’ Blends (Calypso Coral, Cajun Craze, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green)  Accessories: Stitched Rectangles Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals

  1. Brian I see your gratitude pouring out of this beautiful card! I love everything about it. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to meet your Aunt through the mail, she is truly Top Shelf!

    • I couldn’t agree with you more about Aunt Margie – she’s a class act. I’m so glad so many people can get to meet her and know how wonderful she is (something I’ve known for a really long time). Thanks, my friend!

  2. Beautiful card Brian! I received such a sweet card and note from your dear Aunt. It was such a pleasure to thank her for her good deeds! It was also a privilege to share what we love doing especially with those who need some sunshine right now. Thank you for organizing!

  3. Love, love how the flowers are positioned with the sentiment!

    • Great card, Brian. I also received a sweet card and note from your Aunt Margie. Thank you for letting us meet her by mail. She sounds wonderful. Thanks for delivering all the nursing home cards. Iā€™m sure everyone loved receiving them.

      • Thanks, Shila! That makes me so happy. I know Aunt Margie loved the cards and was excited to write back. Such kindness. I so wish I could have been there to see the recipients of the cards I shared with them – I’m sure they loved them. Thanks for participating. ā™„

  4. Brian, I received the cutest note from your Aunt Margie! While I certainly expected nothing for sending a card, I truly enjoyed reading her note! She remarked you’re her favorite! šŸ™‚ What a great idea to bring some happiness to others in these trying times!! I enjoy your creations on your blog! Thanks for promoting kindness!!

    • Thank you so much for your kind note, Jennie! I never expected Aunt Margie would receive so many wonderful cards – such a kindness y’all showed her. ā™„ I’m so happy to promote kindness – we need it so much.

  5. Brian, I want to thank you for giving us the opportunity to share love through our craft. You are an inspiration.

  6. Wow Brian – What an amazing response you received for your request. How wonderful those folks are that sent so many cards. I am in awe.
Todays’ card is fabulous! I seem to be drawn to monochromatic cards and this one was no exception. Bless you for your kindness. Having spent time in a nursing home facility this spring, I understand how much a card can mean, especially during these isolating times.

    • Thank you so much, Grace! I was excited by how the markers added the slightest touch of color to the focal panel. I’m grateful for the amazing support I received from folks as I kicked off these efforts. You are wonderful to have played along, too! Thanks! ā™„

  7. Brian… first, this card is lovely. Your heartfelt thanks to paper crafting and the paper crafting community hit home with me without a doubt. During our NJ COVID shut down, I also had the opportunity to create for a local nursing home. What a thrill it was and the outpouring of thanks was astounding. My personal thanks to you, my friend, for all you do for so many.

    • Thank you so much, Debbie! I’m grateful to everyone who gave to this effort or helped in their own areas – this is a unique craft that allows us to share so much joy. Much love to you.

  8. Wonderful card. It was my pleasure to make some cards. I, too, received a wonderful card from your aunt. I shed a few tears but had a few smiles. Your aunt Margie plans to meet up with my mom by the same name when they have a huge reunion of people named Margie in heaven.

  9. Nice work, everyone! I’ll bet there were some gorgeous cards in that gigantic haul. And all that good mojo is out there in the universe because of you, Brian. Your Aunt’s note reminded me of how thoughtful, lovely and gracious words from strangers can be when you’re on the receiving end.

    • Thanks, Cindie! There were some INCREDIBLE cards in the haul of cards I received. The whole time I was sorting them, I wanted to take a picture of all of them, but I had to just press through and keep going to get them out. They were pretty wonderful!

  10. Pretty card and what a great response in regard to the nursing home cards
that everyone contributed . I have enjoyed chatting by mail with your Aunt Margie . It is fun to have another card/pen pal !
Thank goodness that we have this wonderful hobby of creating cards !!

  11. Loved hearing back from your aunt… and you are right.. we are writing back and forth.ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø
It is my turn to send her a card back.. hope to get that done within a day or two!! She is a very special person! Thank you for sharing her with us.. my upper generation have all passed.. so appreciate gaining an adopted aunt for now!!

  12. I really enjoyed making a few cards for the nursing homes, but getting a sweet note from your Aunt Margie was a thrill. She is my role model for truly aging gracefully. It’s not surprising that you do so much good work in paying it forward for many people and programs. Your card is beautiful. Maybe I’ve never noticed or maybe your technique of coloring over stamped color cardstock is unique to you. I had never seen it before, but love how a little coloring with Blends really makes it beautiful. Enjoy your day, my friend.

    • Thanks, Hilda! I loved sharing the cards everyone sent and know they are appreciated. I wish I could say I am the first person to color on cardstock with Blends, but I am not. I’ve seen color added to Crumb Cake or Sahara Sand (where the color really pops), but I like the muted effect on Calypso Coral. So glad you like it! ā™„ Also, Aunt Margie is WONDERFUL!

  13. Beautiful card, Brian. And don’t forget to thank yourself, for doing this beautiful thing, for so many others. Your heart is as big as the outdoors! I am honored and blessed to know you. Hugs, my dear friend. XO

    • šŸ™‚ Thank you so much, Bobbi! As I was writing this post, I wanted to make sure it never turned into a pat on MY back. I’m so humbled by the amazing response by people. There is so much potential for this world to operate with kindness. ā™„

  14. She wrote me. My hubby asked who do we know in …. I don’t know of anybody. It was your Sweet Great Aunt Margie. I think you’re right about the pen pals…. now where did I put her card. I have her envy!
