Season of Thanks for the InKing Royalty Blog Hop

Many of my Stampin’ Up! team members (not only those with blogs) share their gorgeous projects in our team’s Facebook community – there’s such amazing and inspiring creativity in this group! I’m always excited when my team’s blog hop rolls around, though, because I get to share some of their amazing work with you. I’m just as excited to see their projects as you are, and I am proud to share them with you.

October 2020 InKing Royalty Blog Hop

Welcome to InKing Royalty’s October Blog Hop! During this year’s blog hops, we are enjoying a year of celebrations. This month’s projects celebrate Thanksgiving, so prepare yourself for Autumn landscapes, warm colors and sweet reminders of all the reasons we have to be grateful this time of year. We are excited to share our creations with you today! After you read my post, I hope you’ll hop over to the next person on the list at the base of this post.

Season of Thanks with Love of Leaves

I can’t say this enough – Autumn is my favorite time of year! I love the change of season from Summer to Fall.  The crisp air makes me so very happy, and gorgeous Fall colors can’t be beat. I love when the leaves change from vibrant greens to gorgeous hues of yellows, oranges and reds. Today’s card shows the transition of leaves from green to Fall colors. Here’s my card:

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Perfect Layering. The leaves on my card are perfectly aligned between the colorful images on the inside panel and the green images on the base panel. You might not have noticed it at first, but the leaves reach from one panel to the next. I want to share with you how I did that. Here are the two panels I created: Love of Leaves, Stampin Up!, Brian KingHere are the steps I took to create these panels with same leaf placement on each:
    • I cropped two panels of 3-3/4″ x 5″ Thick Whisper White cardstock.
    • I used my Stamparatus to line up each leaf (one at a time) where I wanted it on the card panel to build a balanced pattern.
    • I inked up the leaf with one of the greens and stamped it on the first card panel.
    • I cleaned the stamp and inked it with one of the colors, stamping it on the second card panel.
    • I repeated this process for each of the leaves. This allows each leaf to be positioned in the exact same place on each of the panels.
    • I used the Hippo & Friends Dies to crop from the center of each piece and layered them on my card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • Confession time: the very center of the stamped image is quite a mess, so I covered it with another die from the same layering, stitched dies. So happy with how that turned out.
  • Three Bundles. My simple, layered card features elements from three wonderful bundles – and each it worth a look-see. The leaves on my card are stamped with the watercolored leaves from Love of Leaves, part of the Love of Leaves Bundle. Here’s a look:Love of Leaves Bundle, Stampin Up! 155195The sentiment, a favorite of mine, is from the returning favorite bundle, Gather Together. • Autumn Colors. While the leaves on the green panel are stamped with four great greens (Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive, Garden Green and Shaded Spruce), it’s the warm Autumn colors at the center of this card that make me so very happy.
