I got all dressed up in my pinpoint suit and bright bow tie to honor the CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge. After 404 challenges (I joined the team in January 2018), the design team has one last challenge to share before CAS(E) This Sketch retires. I’ve loved every moment of every challenge and have loved sharing their inspiration with you. I’m grateful to all of the team members who’ve been so kind to me and to all of you who’ve popped in to see what I’m making with the incredible sketches.
Here’s my card for this final challenge of the CAS(E) Design Team:
And here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card – it’s a retro look back at the 25th challenge hosted by the design team:
Tips, Tricks and Reminders
- Handsomely Suited. My card features stamps and dies from the Handsomely Suited Bundle, which is made up of the Handsomely Suited stamp set and the Suit & Tie Dies. Here’s a look at the elements that make up this wonderful bundle:Not only did I incorporate the box ties in my design (stamped with the Handsomely Suited stamp set and cropped with the Suit & Tie Dies), but I also incorporated one of the sentiments from the stamp set on my card. That’s not all, though…did you notice the three strips of paisley Designer Series Paper behind my bow ties? Those were cropped with the stitched strip from the Suit & Tie Dies that is designed to crop suspenders – how fun! Here’s a closer look: While my card is designed with a man’s tastes in mind, so many of these elements can be used to make projects for women – I see hair bows, fancy dress lapels and other elements of women’s clothes.
- Well Suited Designer Series Paper. Since you’re already sold on the Handsomely Suited Bundle (I did a stellar job of convincing you why you need it, right?), you’ll also want to listen to me when I tell you that you will need the Well Suited Designer Series Paper. What a gorgeous mix patterns and colors that are perfectly suited (see what I did there) for your clothing-inspired projects. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Well Suited Designer Series Paper:
- Colors for Men. One of the most common things I hear from card makers is that they struggle with making cards for men. My first tip is this: don’t be afraid to add color. An all-blue or all-gray or all-brown card can be pretty, but there’s always a risk it could be drab. While there’s a lot of blue and gray on my card, the bursts of Poppy Parade have purpose for a stylish, happening man. The trio of bow ties on my features a mix of Balmy Blue, Seaside Spray and Poppy Parade. If you like this mix of colors as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference: The color combination that most stands out to me on this card, though, is the mix of steel blue, gray and red. If you like this combination of Seaside Spray, Basic Gray and Poppy Parade, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:
Bundles: Handsomely Suited Stamp Sets: Handsomely Suited Papers: Well Suited Designer Series Paper, Basic Gray, Thick Basic White Inks: Poppy Parade, Stampin’ Blends (Balmy Blue, Poppy Parade, Seaside Spray) Accessories: Suit & Tie Dies, Stitched Shapes Dies (oval), Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals, Stampin’ Dimensionals
I hope you’ll pop over to the CAS(E) This Sketch site to see the cards by the design team members and to play along with this week’s challenge.
Thanks for stopping by today!
