Miss You with Flower & Field

There’s something I love about a very simple card with just the right elements to make it shine. Today’s card features a large panel of gorgeous flowers with a modern edge and a simple sentiment. As simple as it is, the card says exactly what it’s supposed to day. Here’s my card:

Wonderful as You, Stampin Up!, Brian King

My card was inspired (maybe a little loosely) by this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge layout. Here’s the banner for the challenge that inspired my card:

  • Two New Products. My simple card showcases two new products from Stampin’ Up!’s January – June 2021 Mini Catalog – and one of them almost didn’t make it onto my card). The sentiment on my card, from the Wonderful as You stamp set, is my favorite kind of sentiment – it’s sweet and beautiful. I love the mix of a swirly font and a typeset font. Before you pass over the Wonderful as You stamp set, please be sure you read each of the sweet sentiments. Here’s a look:Wonderful as You, Stampin Up! 154525There’s a little space under “miss” and after” you” that felt a little empty inside my circle. The sentiment is empty and sad enough, so I wanted to balance it all – and what better than a little heart? To fill the space, I colored a white resin heart embellishment with a Basic Black Stampin’ Blend – exactly what I wanted. • Sale-a-Bration Must-Have. There are some great Sale-a-Bration products you have to have – and there are some you need in duplicate. The Flower & Field Designer Series Paper (a free selection with the purchase of $50 in product between January and February) is incredible, and you’re going to want to have 2 or 3 packs. While I’m mostly drawn to the pages with a Basic Black background, I also love this page of flowers with the Just Jade backdrop. • Color Combination. I so love the Bumblebee, Flirty Flamingo and white flowers against this backdrop of Just Jade. The black leaves and centers on the flowers make this design modern and fresh. To accent the pops of black in the paper, I added three bands with the Stitched Rectangles Dies, offset a bit from each other. If you love this mix of Bumblebee, Just Jade and Basic Black as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:Stampin Up! Color Inspiration - Bumblebee, Just Jade, Basic Black

When you have paper this pretty you really do not need too much more on your card ! You did it right !! Plus thank you for reminding me to color my little Resin Hearts !! SMILE !!

    • 🙂 Thanks so much, Sonny! I sometimes feel guilty that there’s not enough “stuff” on a card, but paper like this just shines without the “stuff.” Glad you like it, my friend!

  6. Sweet card. I just used this same print for a card this week with FabFri sketch! Could not believe I had not cut into the paper pack yet.

  7. That is just the sweetest card Brian. I need to make about 50 of them for all the folks I’ve missed over this past year. I love the way you used the black strips and then balanced it all with the heart. You are AMAZING!!!

    • Thanks so much, Grace! I wanted my circle to cover or touch each of the three strips. I was worried about whether it would stay balanced, but it all came together like I wanted. So glad you like it.

  8. Brian this sentiment is perfect for right now….we miss visiting our love ones. The Bumblebee color cardstock highlights the beauty of the flowers in the DSP and will brighten anyone’s heart that is home missing someone!

    • Thanks, Katrina! My original plan was to mount this on Just Jade paper to match the background. I decided, though, to have the base match the circle. It just helped this sweet sentiment to pop. Thanks!

  9. Beautiful card, Brian!
Flower & Field is by far my favorite Sale a Bration item. I never see florals with black as the background and I LOVE it. I plan on stocking up on several packs. 0:-)
