Be Inspired by Big Sentiments

It’s time for another Be Inspired Design Team Blog Hop – what fun! The Be Inspired Design Team is a group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from all over the world who are excited to share our themed projects with you. I’m so honored to be a part of this group of talented stampers!

For today’s Be Inspired Blog Hop, we are sharing projects that feature a big sentiment. While there are so many boldly amazing and oversized sentiments in Stampin’ Up!’s catalogs, I decided to build a not-so-big sentiment in one of my favorite big shapes – just a small “hi” in a big word balloon. We hope our projects inspire you and that you leave with lots of fun ideas! If you aren’t starting the hop here, then you probably just popped over from the bright-and-shiny card shared by my talented friend Carolynn Sander.

HI ♥

I’ve loved this big word balloon I first laid eyes on the You Are Amazing stamp set in Stampin’ Up!’s January – June 2021 Mini Catalog – and don’t get me started about all the amazing sentiments the come along with it. The sentiment on my card isn’t large, but it’s made bigger inside the large balloon. What fun! Here’s my card for today’s super-fun hop:

You Are Amazing, Playful Alphabet Dies, Stampin Up!, Brian King

I heat-embossed the large word balloon with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Basic Black cardstock. Because the balloon is a negative image (not just an outline) that picks up ink on the entire shape, I inked it up with juicy Versamark pad and covered it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder – such fun. Here’s a closer look at the stamp set that gave me this large balloon:

You Are Amazing, Stampin Up!, 154534While it coordinates with a kit at the front of the catalog, the set is sold separately (and worth another look). I cropped two letters and a little heard with Melon Mambo cardstock and glued them right inside my embossed word balloon. I reached for my Playful Alphabet Dies to build my sentiment:

Playful Alphabet Dies, Stampin Up! 152706And one of the tiniest hearts from the the discounted Detailed Hearts Dies to make my HI more friendly. During Stampin’ Up!’s Retiring List Sale, this large, versatile die is 20% off. Here’s a look at this die:

Detailed Hearts Dies, Stampin Up! 151440And here’s a look at the sentiment and heart at the center of my card:

While I was building the card, I loved how the focal panel looked – just a pop of pink against a block of white on a black base. While I looked for bright, bold ways to complete my card, I decided I didn’t want o take away from that focal point. Instead, I build my base with a Basic Black and Basic Gray pattern from the Well Suited Designed Series Paper and a Basic Gray card base. Here’s a look at the colors and patterns in the Well Suited Designer Series Paper:

Well Suited Designer Series Paper, Stampin Up!, 154562I added tiny wings of Melon Mambo on either side of my focal panel to accent the pink without pulling focus away from the sentiment. If you like this mix of Melon Mambo, Basic Gray and Basic Black as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference:
