Congratulations with Retiring Silhouette Scenes

Love is pretty cool. Today’s card celebrates romantic love with a silhouette right out of an old movie. My card combines three colors and three stamps (two that are retiring soon) and mixes classic beauty with a modern twist. Here’s my card:

Silhouette Scenes, Last a Lifetime, Wild Roses, Stampin Up!, Brian King, anniversary card

Tips, Tricks and Reminders

  • Retiring Bundles. My card combines the romantic couple caught in the rain from the Silhouette Scenes. Maybe they’ve been under that umbrella for a while, and she’s sticking her foot out to see if it’s still raining? Either way, they are a beautiful image, don’t you think? The sentiment is from Last a Lifetime, another set that celebrates love. While the dies associated with these stamp sets are deeply discounted (and while supplies are still available), you can buy these bundles at a deep discount by buying the products separately (just add the stamp set and dies separately for a big savings): Silhouette Scenes Build-a-Bundle, Stampin Up! • Flower Power. To create a romantic backdrop for the lovely couple, I stamped the Wild Flowers Background stamp from Stampin’ Up!’s January – June 2021 Mini Catalog with Petal Pink ink on Petal Pink cardstock. I didn’t press too firmly to give the flowers a textured look in the background. Here’s a look at this stamp set: Wild Roses Background, Stampin Up!, 154363 I then stamped the couple with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink over and over (using my Stamparatus for perfect placement) until I achieved the depth of ink I wanted. I cropped the couple with a Stitched Rectangles Die. Here’s a closer look: Silhouette Scenes, Last a Lifetime, Wild Roses, Stampin Up!, Brian King, anniversary card
  • Sweet Color Combination. My card mixes different tones of Petal Pink and only two other neutrals – Gray Granite and Basic Black. Quite romantic, don’t you think? If you like this mix of Petal Pink, Gray Granite and Basic Black as much as I do, I hope you’ll save this for future reference: Stampin Up! Color Inspiration - Petal Pink, Gray Granite, Basic Black

  1. This is such a pretty card! The silhouette with the pink is wonderful!

    • Thanks so much, Linda! I’ve always thought this silhouette was so sweet (they all are in this set) but was excited this turned out the way it did. Glad you like it. ♥

  2. Such a retro cool color mix and I love the couple stamped in black!

    • Thanks, Mary! I stamped the couple a few times in Gray Granite before realizing it would never be concentrated enough. That’s when I switched to black – easy to do with the Stamparatus.

  3. Beautiful use of the rose background stamp!

  4. You NAILED this silhouette image my friend. PERFECT little card.

  5. Classic, is right! Love it!

  6. Way back when, I resisted getting the Silhouette Scenes stamp bundle because I am not a silhouette fan–no cameos, none of that– but I knew I’d use the dies, and I liked the sentiments. I have to admit, seeing the image stamped against the Wild Roses background is spectacular. I concede defeat!! I always love it when you open my eyes to design possibilities. Thanks for the shove in a more creative direction.

  7. Hi Brian:
I’ve used this Silhouette Scenes stamp bundle more than I ever thought I would. I just love it and the dies are amazing, especially the tree branch. Combined with the Mountain Air set, as well as a bunch of other sets, this tree branch die adds so much depth and beauty to a card. Love it and love you card for today.
